Subject: Carpenter Family Website
John/Bob,
I came across your Group 5 website while doing research and wanted to tell you how helpful it was as I have had trouble finding anything further back than my 2nd great grandfather Joseph C. Carpenter. Was happy to also find myself in the tree
9664 M i Christopher Lee Coulter-13144.
I did have a couple of questions I was hoping you could help with
1.For Francis Elizabeth Carpenter there is a note: 5387 "Winona Hughes called 3/29/1999 with information on Joseph C.Carpenter's daughter". Would either of you know how to get in contact with Winona? My dad said he had heard of people calling my great grandfather Shoat, but had never seen it written anywhere and we wanted to see what other information Winona might have and if she was a cousin.
2. Wanted to correct one fact on "John O. "Shoat" Pinion-13240 He died 1 on 6 Jun 1984 in Chattanooga, Hamilton, TN." He actually died in 1980. Your note says the information came from Gypsy V. Pinion, which is my great great aunt, and I'm sure it was just a typo as it is 100% 1980 as documented on his death certificate and on his grave.
3. I have a lot of dates and other information on everyone in the family from Francis on down and would be happy to provide that information if you are interested.
4. I would also be interested in any photos of members of group 5 if you know who would be a good resource for that.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Chris Coulter

The night Mother died, Dad told me to walk to Grandmother Storey'shouse.  I was really scared.  The distance was about 8 blocks.  Welived on 2014 South Lyerly St., it was the second house from thecorner of Lyerly and 21St., 21st was the street that went toGrandmother's house.  However, you had to cross Dodd's avenue whichwas a busy highway and there were no stop lights.  How I got there, Idon't remember but, God had to have been showing me the way.

The couple that lived to our left, i.e., on the corner of Lyerly and21st., were Wally and Nina Pruett.  The people to our right were Mr. &Mrs. Harris and their son Charley Harris.  Apparently Charley was anadult when we lived there.

28 September 1998.  "Mom said your Mother liked to piece quilts and doembroidery.  Also, Grandma Storey nicknamed everyone and your Motherswas Tabby.  Larry said his mother also remembers one summer GrandmaStorey and your mom standing in front of the mirror powdering andfanning getting ready to go to revival.  She said they used to havedances at their house and she remembers your mom and dad dancingtogether, they were just dating at this time."

21 October 1998,  " Mom was telling me tonight that she rememberedthat your Mom was good with her hands.  She was good at needlepointand could play the organ and/or Piano."

24 October 1998, "Mom said your Mom was her role model, she wanted tobe like big sister."

25 October 1998, "Was at Moms tonight she is really studying yourMartin history I think she enjoys it a lot.  The reason I'm writing isMom has an old black cardboard keepsake that is in memory of Ben S.Martin it lists his death as December 6, 1900, we noticed in theMartin papers that his death is listed as about 1903.
