Francelia W. Carpenter, age 98 of Jefferson City, MO, formerly of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Delmar Gardens on the Green in Chesterfield, MO. She was born December 10, 1909 in Versailles, MO, the daughter of Charles and Ethel Jones Willson. She was united in marriage on June 11, 1931 to James S. Carpenter who preceded her in death on December 6, 1976. Mrs. Carpenter graduated from Versailles High School in 1927, she continued her education at Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO, graduating in 1930 and later went back to school and graduated from SMS in 1957. She taught second grade at Fresno, California School District. Mrs. Carpenter enjoyed traveling and especially sports. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Jefferson City and H M Chapter of P.E.D. She is survived by one son, Thomas W. Carpenter of, Biloxi, Mississippi; 8 grandchildren, Susan, David, John, Christopher, Conrad, and Will Carpenter, Sarah Murphy, Amanda Durkin; five great-grandchildren, William Carpenter, Sara Moore, Natalie Carpenter, Jack Murphy, and Joseph Durkin, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, James C. Carpenter, one brother Howard Willson, two sisters, Betty Lea Nixon, and Lauranel Agee. A celebration of life funeral service will be at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Barry Fielder officiating. Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery. Casketbearers are David, John, and Conrad Carpenter, Jeffrey Moore, Jay Nixon and Trip Moynihan. The family will receive friends from 3:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.kidwellgarber.com. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the donor's choice. The family would like to invite friends to Pioneer Restaurant 801 W. Newton Versailles, MO, for dinner and a time of fellowship after the funeral service.
