Descendants of Group 5 Zimmermans / Carpenters

Notes

Barbara Zimmermann

41
Barbara Zimmermann, daughter of Christian Zimmermann (#17), was born about 1793 and married Michael Lauber (son of Barbara Zimmermann #7) of Bourgfelden.  The birth of her eldest son Michael was witnessed by Christian Zimmermann (#39), brother-in-law of the father.  This Christian Zimmermann was apparently a fieldworker at the time on the farm that Michael Lauber leased from the Baron de Barbier of Hegenheim.
Children (all born Bourgfelden, per Hüppi):
        i. Michael Lauber, b. 18 Oct. 1812; d. 16 Mar. 1814.
       ii.  Elisabeth, b. 12 June 1814.
      iii.  Christian, b. 15 Dec. 1815; m. Catharina Müller 15 May 1843 Bourgfelden; no
children; d. 4 Dec. 1866 Bourgfelden.
      iv.  Barbara, b. 23 May 1817; d. there 16 July 1835.
       v.  Michael, b. 20 Sept. 1818; m. Catharina Zimmermann (#38).
vi.  Catherine, b. 21 Dec. 1819; probably m. Benedict Roth.

FATHER:
17      i.  Christian, b. 1768; m. Elisabeth König; d. 1805 Bourgfelden.
GRANDFATHER:
4        Jacob Zimmermann was born 16 December 1735.

646. Christian Lauber

He married but had no children.

649. Catherine Lauber

Probably m. Benedict Roth.

263. Henry Carpenter

NAME:  May be Henry Zimmerman who changed his surname to Carpenter when he married his wife whose maiden name was Carpenter.

Two schools of thought seen regarding Henry.  But no real proof given.
1) He was born abt 1802 in PA and died Sep 1850 Lancaster, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA.
Death noted per U.S., Federal Census Mortality Schedules Index, 1850-1880
2) Henry born 22 May 1787 in East Earl, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA
Death 8 Mar 1868 in East Earl, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA
Son of Henry and Elizabeth (Richards) Carpenter.
Married Elizabeth Carpenter (1788-1829) and had tywo children George Washington Carpenter (1810-1883) and Jeremiah Carpenter (1819-1917)

266. Peter Zimmerman

He moved from Lancaster Co., to Cumberland Co., PA.

He was ordained in 1814, the first Deacon at Martin Church (now SlateHill Mennonite Church).

CHILDREN: Do the children really have the middle name of Martin, or is this just the mother's maiden name added by one researcher as an aide? Unfortunately the pattern is the mother's maiden name used as a form of ID.  This is not proper. Middle names of Martin removed. JRC 2014

Jacob J. Hershey

He was a minister in the Mennonite Church.

692. Martin Zimmerman

He moved to Ohio in 1869.

269. Christian Zimmerman

CHILDREN:  All children had middle name Wenger or W. - the wife's maiden name. Some researcher in the past thought this was a good idea to put wife's maiden name as a middle name. It wasn't.  I removed them. JRC 2014

Elizabeth Gundy Wenger

NOTE:  If her mother's maiden name is Gundy, then the middle name should be removed. Without proof and it appears for ID purposes a researcher added mother's maiden names to the record.  Unfortunately, this has caused all sort of problems.
