In the year of 1956 he declined a promotion with GM because of the extensive travel required and the fact he would have to move his family to Detroit, MI but more importantly he wanted to be with his growing family on a daily basis so he accepted a job as part owner/manager of Joplin Auto Supply in Joplin, MO and moved his family to Joplin, MO.
