Enlisted on August 15, 1862 at Iredell County, North Carolina as a Private in the 37th North Carolina Infantry, Company I, at the age of 32. POW on July 28, 1864 at Gravel Hill, Virginia. Confined on August 2, 1864 at Point Lookout, Maryland. Transferred on August 8, 1864 at Elmira, New York. Died of disease as a POW.
