8057. David Morrill Carpenter

Notes for DAVID MORRIL CARPENTER:
He was a active man of affairs , and engaging in mercantile business at
Chichester,NH later purchasing a large farm which he tilled industriously
and sucessfully. He was a trustee of the Merimack County Savings Bank, and a
director of the Mechanic's National Bank, are raely failed to attend weekly
meetings of the directors. His worth was recognized by his fellow citizens,
and he was called upon to serve as representative in the stste legislature,
and was county treasurer from 1837  to 1849. He was selectman in 1835-36
,and again
1842-43,44, and was subquently county comissioner. While yet a minor he
served in the War of 1812.

She was born Abt. 1798 in of Loudon, NH, and died
November 04, 1866 in NH.

SUBJECT: John B. Carpenter of VT and Jefferson , Mississippi.
John B. Carpenter was born on 10 Sep 1804 in Randolph, VT [ABC].  He was
a son of Joseph and Sarah (Buell) Carpenter, a brother of Nathaniel L.
Carpenter and Samuel Carpenter of MS, a descendant of the Rehoboth
branch of English Carpenters.  He settled in Jefferson  MS about 1839
and married on 29 Oct 1840 to Anna Ely [NAMP, JMH].  After her death, he
married on 26 Aug 1856 to Anne G. (Stokes) Montgomery, widow of Daniel
Montgomery [ACM].  John B. Carpenter died in 1888 at Fayette MS.  Anne
G. (Stokes) (Montgomery) Carpenter died on 12 Jan 1897 near Vicksburg
MS.  John B. and Anne G. (Stokes) (Montgomery) Carpenter were the
parents of a son:
1. Edgar Hamilton Carpenter, born on 18 June 1857 at Fayette MS; no
further information.
C. C. Carpenter, age 12, born in ,NY, appears in the 1850 census
with John B. Carpenter, but no relationship is known [2].

DEATH: 11 Jul 1869 in one record and 11 July 1870 in another.
Benjamin Carpenter, [who happens to be their son, but is buried in a   different area] died 1869 Jul 11, aged 62y 8m 25d his wife Sarah Carpenter, died 1875 Sep 15, aged 62y 9m 29d.
BIRTH; 13 Oct 1806 per computer claculation of above data instead of 16 Oct 1805 as noted in data.

Number 1884a in the Carpenter Family in America Book of 1912.

NOTE: There was a conflict on this line whether or not his father Benjamin was of the Rehoboth or Providence Carpenters.  In October 2008 Y-DNA research on a descendant indicated a 22/25 marker match with the Rehoboth Carpenter line.  Critical markers do not match Providence but Rehoboth. JRC
