Subject: "Carpenter" GenealogyDear Mr. Carpenter,
I am relatively new to genealogical research. My wife and I have been active now for about 1 and 1/2 years. Recently I ran across the Carpenter DNA web page and ordered the Carpenter CD 2001 from the Carpenter Museum. It is a massive accomplishment which has been extremely helpful in my work.
While reviewing the branch of the Carpenter family that I am related to, I noticed that the chain stops going forward in time just where my family line intersects with the data on the CD as I am descended from the female line without the name Carpenter.
I was wondering if you are interested in the data that I have. Let me briefly outline my ancestral line.
William Carpenter (Rehoboth)
> Samuel Carpenter
>> Abiah Carpenter
>>> Thomas Carpenter
>>>> Caleb Carpenter
>>>>> Galen Carpenter
>>>>>> Lewis George Carpenter
>>>>>>> Mary Jane Carpenter (b 21 Jul 1844)The data on the CD ends with Mary Jane. My family continues as follows:
Mary Jane + Albert Orrin Greenman
> Elizabeth May Greenman + Courtland P. Carr
>> Mildred May Carr + Richard John Duerk
>>> Richard Courtland Duerk + Doris Mae Scheffler
>>>> Colby P DuerkI also have a large amount of data relating to the ancestors of Lewis George Carpenter's wife Elizabeth J. Briggs. I have been able to trace her back to many of the founding members of Nantucket Island.
Please let me know if this information would be of use to you and in what form you would need it. I would also be interested in knowing whether any newer information is available that has been compiled since the 2001 CD.
Sincerely,
Colby Duerk

John,
The Susquehanna Co. PA Carpenters are all, so far, descended from the
New England family you are researching, so I may be able to add to that
branch of your CD database as we go along here.
Do you have a Harry C. Carpenter, born ca. 1876, wife Lillian and
daughter Beulah M., in Susquehanna Co. PA around the 1905-1915
timeframe, who later removed to Endicott, Broome Co., NY? Mary Hafler
has helped me in the search for Donald Marshall Carpenter's parents, and
I am trying to return the favor. If you can help her with data from
your database, I would be most grateful. Her e-mail address is
if you wish to reply to her also.
Thank you! Terry

My search found my husband's mother and grandparents to confirm what little
information we know. Harry C. Carpenter, wife Lillian and daughter Beulah M.
who later removed to Endicott, Broome, NY and are buried there. I did not
find your Douglas Marshall Carpenter named in the listing and he would have
been about 16 at that time.
If you have any other first names and do not find the website, let me know as
I did take notes. My son and I hope to visit that area sometime to check on
records. I think Montrose is the county seat. Hopbottom really is just a
hamlet these days. Thanks for offer of sharing but am not ready unless you
have a Harry C., probably born around 1876 and running hotel 1905-1915 time
period. Good luck in your search, Mary in Saratoga.
