14047. Abner Lewis Carpenter 2nd

Number 242-4 in the Timothy Carpenter book.
Abner was sometimes referred to as Abner 2nd in old records.  This was
occasioned by his having been the second Abner of his family, the first having
died in infancy.
Abner and his family are mentioned in the various census records of Panama,
beginning in 1855.  He was first mentioned in the Mayville census of 1850.
reference was made that he had resided in Kansas at one time.  He was not
mentioned in Letters of Administration of his mother's estate, dated March 1,
1886 as found in the Mayville, NY courthouse records.
Abner addressed a letter dated January 31, 1897 from Tecumsech, OK

to that time.  A letter by granddaughter Ada mentions the passing of his spouse
Sarah and that Abner was residing with his daughter Ella Elder in the State of

21603. Ella Carpenter

Number 655-5 in the Timothy Carpenter book.
Ella is mentioned in the 1865 census of Panama and on an 1861 school list.
Her niece, Ada, in a 10-26-1959 letter records Ella's married name was Elder,
she was deceased, and that her father, Abner resided with her in Puget Sound
area in his latter years.
This contradicts Abners's statements in a letter to his brother Isaac that Eva,
not Ella, wed E.G. Elder.  We accept Ada's word as Eva wed a Mr. Diamond.  Ada
also said her older brothers and sister were deceased (by 1959).

21607. Eva Carpenter

Isaac in 1897, stating that Eva was then living in Colorado and would be 34 the
next March 12.  In addition, Abner stated she had married E.G. Elder, which
conflicts with Diamond.  Eva's sister Ella (655) married G.T. Elder.  Three of
her four children were living in 1897 and the eldest was then deceased.

14049. Fidelia Carpenter

Number 244-4 in the Timothy Carpenter book.
Fidelia is sometimes recorded as "Pidelia".  In the letters of administration
of her mother's estate, dated March 10, 1886, it is spelled with an "F".

states Fidelia was then bedridden and residing at Broken Straw, NY.

is mentioned that Isaac and his family were residing at Wexford, with a P.O.

The Traverse Region, Historical & Descriptive, published by H.L. Page & Co. at
Wexford county states Isaac was the first Probate Judge of Wexford county.
