Edwin lived in Melbourne, Ballarat and Rockhampton as a child. It was he who
certified his Mothers death cert, in the absense of his father. He was still
living in Carlton in 1878, a year after his mothers death. Have not been able
to find out just how he met his wife. After he & Margaret married in Warragul,
they moved north to Rockhampton ,where they settled. There he claimed land as
eldest son & heir of the land his father had owned.
26363. Alice Maud Carpenter A Twin
She was a twin to John, who died at birth.
Freds Mum was a flower girl when Amy married John Graham. In later years Amys
house was said to resemble a museum. The very large framed photograph of the
Carpenter family that Ro & I found in the Allenstown antique shop in 1990, was
once in her house.
She left a will. Probate granted Moonee Pounds ref 296/192 17 Jun 1938.
He left a will. Probate granted Moonee Ponds ref 735/560 10 Jun 1930.
Ref for their marriage cert is 8120/1917.
He left a will but no one in his family was willing to admister it ... Odd
They were requested to by Curator of Estates ... not sure of out come.

ref no to get m cert is 6217.
About 1930 was living at 26 Willow Ave Coburg.
About 1930 was living at Burleigh P O via Silvan.
26377. Nellie Elizabeth Anderson
About 1930 was living at 16 Hardwick St Coburg
About 1930 was living at 39 Cameron St Coburg.
About 1930 was living at 39 Cameron St Coburg.
She returned to Rockhampton with her husband and baby. This probably to join
her brother Edwin Robert Carpenter. About 1900 she left daughter Mildred with
friends named Picton and left Rockhampton taking Agnes with her. Where she
went is a mystery. Did she divorce or what? Where did she go?
There is records of her brother paying a Mrs. Birch installments for the
saddlery. He makes references to Mrs. Birch but I can find no trace of the
Birchs having any property in Rockhampston.
John Stevens Birch was a sadler. He and his wife , Helena, moved from Melbourne
to Rockhampton, shortly after their daughter, Ada, was born in 1886. Helena
had been born in Rockhampton and her brother, Edwin had already returned there
in 1881. John Birch had a successful sadlers business in Rockhampton. Upon his
untimely death, of TB, aged only 40, his saddlery business was taken over by
his brother in law, Edwin Carpenter, who was just as successful. His grandson,
Robert says its quite possible that sadles are still in use made by either of
these men.
As at 8 jun 1993 I have yet to find out what happend to Helena.
John Stevens is buried in the Old South Side Rockhampton Cemetery
Row 50 no,3036 c of e sec ( source message from Mary O'brien).
