Notes

28119. Andrew John "Andy" Willey

Known as ANDY WILLEY:
This Andy is Thomas & Martha Willey's son.   I was told by Ethel Burcham Willey
that Andy had only one leg, probably lost in an accident. On a trip to the
Independence Courthouse, we found his marriage license and he married his first
cousin Ettie Hudson, who was the daughter of Wiley & Adeline Willey Hudson.
I have a picture of Andy Willey and his wife Etta, as told to me, to be Walter
Bailey Willey's favorite Uncle.
We have heard of someone recently who recalled hearing of a "Peg Leg" Willey,
who worked for  a Mr. Reece Hale, in Grayson County, and this "Peg Leg" was
excellent in carpentry, which was his profession.
(Walter Bailey Willey was known to be a excellent carpenter too, although he
was not a professional, so therefore I assume someone taught him.  Probably his
favorite Uncle Andy. )
Andy died in 1920 at 34 years old and is buried at the Rock Creek Primitive
Baptist Church, just East of Independence, VA.  Also buried there is Bessy
Willey who was Andy & Etta's daughter, who died as a baby.  I don't know if
there were other children.
