28772. Bonnie Marie Carpenter

Information from: "FAMILY RECORD of the Carpenter Family" pub. 1947. Bonnie lived in Terre Haute, IN. in 1973 & 1985, as stated in other's obituaries. Her daughter Frances died at age 7.   Originally the birth year was 1907, but she was 85 when she died and the obituary said she died on 21 June 1994.

OBITUARY:  Bonnie Arbuckile Sanders.  Marshall, Clark , Illinois -- Bonnie Arbuckle Sanders, 85, of Marshall, and formerly of Terre Haute, Ind. died at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 1994, in Burnsides Nursing Home at Marshall.  She was born March 8, 1909, in Anderson Twp., Clark County to William Carpenter and Mary Carver Carpenter.  Her first husband, Eugene Arbuckle, died in 1943; her second husband, John Sanders, died in 1982.  Survivors include two sons, Warren Arbuckle and Rev. Glenn Arbuckle; one daughter, Faye Simpson; two brothers, Rev. Carl Carpenter and Harry Carpenter;  17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.  Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Prust-Hosch Funeral Home at West Union, with the Rev. Gene Ellis officiating.  Burial is in Ohio Cem., west of West Union.  Visitation is after 4 p.m. Friday and before services Saturday.

28782. Phebe Berrillar Carpenter

Information obtained from "FAMILY RECORD  of the Carpenter Family," published 1947.   Family records in possession of Mildred Heleine, Marshall, Clark, IL.  In others' obituaries she was listed as "of Darwin, IL" in 1972, "of West Union" (IL) in 1973, "of West Union" in 1982, and "of Paris, Edgar, IL" in 1983. Phebe was still living in a nursing home in Paris, IL at 90 (in 1980).


28783. Lucy Ethel Carpenter

Information from: "FAMILY RECORD of the Carpenter Family" published in 1947.  Information was also obtained from Goldie and Effie Jane, her daughters, and Silas her son.  Also family Bible in possession of Goldie. Lucy was 79y 9m 3d.

OBITUARY:  Lucy Ethel Chambers, the second child of the twelve children born to John E. and Florence Effie Kincaid Carpenter, was born November 28, 1892 in Anderson Twp. of Clark County, Illinois, and departed this life at the Nursing Home in Casey, Illinois, Thursday, about 8:00 a.m., August 31, 1972, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and three days.    She was united in marriage to Silas Slyvester Chambers, on October 4, 1913.  To this union was born five children.  Her husband Silas, preceded her in death February 7, 1925; also preceding her in death, a daughter, Erma Constance, born July 20, 1914.  A son Harold Edgar Chambers was killed in France, in the Battle of the Bulge, January 14, 1945; her father and mother, a sister Rosa Mason, two brothers, Truman Daniel and Donald F. Carpenter.    She leaves to mourn her departure two daughters Mrs. Goldie (Charles) Patteson of Hobart, Indiana;  Mrs. Effie Jane (Leroy) Wallace of Martinsville, Illinois; one son Silas Dean Chambers of Portage, Indiana; three sisters Mrs. Pheobe (Fred) Ledermann of Darwin, Illinois; Mrs. Ruby (Howard) Serwise, Mrs. Helen (Dennis) Weir, Martinsville, Illinois; five brothers Thomas, John F. and Oscar Carpenter of Marshall, Illinois, Golden Carpenter of Dennison, Illinois; Noland Carpenter of Portage, Ind., ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.  She lived her entire life within a few miles of her birthplace.  As a child, she attended the Cottonwood School and the Mill Creek Baptist Church.  She was converted and baptized April 4, 1934, and with her daughter became a member of the Allright Congregational Church, and when this church was disorganized she areturned and attended the church of her childhood, the Mill Creek Baptist Church.  She was a very faithful Christian all her life. . . Funeral services September 2, 1972. . . Interment in the Ohio Cem..

28784. Ruby Inez Carpenter

Information from:  "FAMILY RECORD of the Carpenter Family" pub. in 1947 and an interview with Ruby in 1980 at a family reunion.  According to others' obituaries she was  "of Marshall" in 1973 & 1982.  She was 87 at time of death..  She had 4 grandchildren and 1 grreat-grandchild.  A letter from Mrs. Allen Serwise in 1993 (now living in Peoria, IL) said Ruby moved to Marshall in 1942 and lived in the same home until about a year before her death. Both of her sons have contributed to this record.


Howard Allen Serwise

Parents: John SERWISE & Caroline GOODWIN In Clark  records (book in Terre Haute Library), (one record said, Caroline Goodwin, another Caroline Renner).   Sp C 929.377371 C, Marriages 1872-1881) there is a marriage date for John Serwise and Caroline Renner, 28 Feb 1880.  Clark  records, a birth date for John Serwise, b. 22 May 1859 in IL and d. 26 Aug. 1916 in Anderson Twp., Clark, IL.  Buried in Zeigler Cem.. Information given by Howard Serwise.  This John's parents were listed as John Serwise from Germany, and Katherine Lichtenberger also from Germany. Birth certificate for Howard Allen Serwise in possession of son, Allen Wayne Serwise.

Information on Rose Mason's family was given by correspondence from her children, Kenneth, Roscoe, and Charles.  She was almost 64 when she died.


28787. Thomas Everett Carpenter

Information from "FAMILY RECORD of the Carpenter Family" published in 1947.   Correspondence with Margaret Carpenter Pine, Thomas' daughter. Thomas was 80 yrs. old when he died, and had 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  He was in a hospital in Terre Haute, IN but Marshall, IL was his residence prior to death.


Kathryn Shotts

DEATH;  Marshall, [Illinois], Katie Carpenter, 79, died Wednesday in Union Hospital in Terre Haute. . . .survived by her husband, Thomas Everett Carpenter,   2 daughters, Margaret Pine and Florence Robers, both of Marshall; a brother, Marshall Shotts, and a sister Sarah Glick of Marshall;  5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  Burial in Marshall Cem..

Information from "FAMILY RECORDS of the Carpenter Family" pub. 1947. Verified birth and death dates in Clark  records.   Visited Marshall Cem., Clark, IL. Theodore Golden and Rosa's picture is on their tombstone.   He was "of Dennison" in 1972, at death in 1973 he had 1 daughter and 1 granddaughter.  He was about 70 when he died.


28789. John Foster Carpenter

Information from:"FAMILY RECORDS of the Carpenter Family" published in 1947.  Verified birth in Clark , IL records.  Information from a personal interview in the 1980's.  He was "of Marshall" (IL) in 1973, 1982, & 1983 in others' obituaries.  He died at the age of 91.


Genevieve Haddix

Genevieve's maiden name was Haddix and so was her mother's.  Her mother was Golda HADDIX, dau of William HADDIX and Permelia GILLAM. Genevieve's father is not known at this time.
