We do not know about this daughter.  We find a Cem. record for Russell Jay Carpenter buried in Butterfield Cem. which says his grandparents are Jay Carpenter and Goldie.  A death record for Russell Jay Carpenter states his mother is Barbara Lee Carpenter Franklin. The lot owner where Russell Jay Carpenter is buried is owned by Barbara Franklin.

In 1943 Pvt. Claude Wart was in the army at Seattle, Washington, according to his father's obituary.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, 28 Jan 1986, p. 3B. Claud W. Wart, 75, of 905 S.W. Capital Ave., died Monday in Leila Hospital.  He had been ill seven months and hospitalized one week. He was born in Wexford County, moved to Battle Creek in 1947, to Burlington in 1955 and returned to Battle Creek in October.  He was
employed by the old U.S. Register , retiring in 1962.  He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Athens VFW Post.  Surviving are his wife, the former Doreen Cappon; a son, Steven Wart of Burlington; daughters, Sharon Dibert of Union City and Sandra Holmgren of
Burlington; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Edris Mead and Mildred Ahlberg, both of Battle Creek, and Glennie Green of East Jordan; and a brother, Gordon Wart of Battle Creek. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Jenkins Funeral Home in Union City.  Memorial donations may be made to Union City Schools

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Wed., Oct 3, 1990, p. 2A. Gordon M. Wart, 69, of Battle Creek, died Monday, Oct. 1, 1990, at Leila Hospital, where he was a patient one week.  He had been ill several years.  He was born in Leonidas and came to Battle Creek in 1936 from Athens.  He served with the Army during World War II.  He was employed by Battle Creek Box  for three years and also was a sheet metal worker for V.E. Troxel and Sons for 15 years.  He later owned and operated Gordon Wart Heating and Air Conditioning for five years and was last employed by Brunswick Corp., Kalamazoo, for seven years, retiring in 1969.  He was a member of Athens VFW Post and Hickory Corners American Legion.  Surviving are his wife, the former Eva LaRose; a daughter,
Claudia Crampton of Augusta; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Glennie Green of East Jordan and Mildred Ahlberg of Battle Creek.  A son, William M. Wart-Kent, died in 1988.  Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Fort Custer National Cem..  Memorial donations may go to Michigan Heart Association.  Arrangements are by Royal Funeral Home.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Friday, July 17, 1942, p. 3.  Mrs. Otto F. Sult.  Mrs. Floella J. Sult, 40, wife of Otto F. Sult of Bedford Twp., died at 11:55 p.m. Thursday in the residence on the Fine Lake Road.  Although she had been in poor health for the last four years, death was unexpected.  Dr. Willard N. Putman, coroner, said the cause was coronary thrombosis.  She was born in Sherman, Wexford County, June 29, 1902,
and came to Battle Creek about 23 years ago.  Surviving besides the husband are four daughters, Ollene, Betty, Marita and Caroline, all at home; three sons, Winifred, who is on army duty in San Francisco, Leon of Bedford
Twp., and Wesley at home; two sisters, Mrs. Lila Samis of 201 East Roosevelt avenue and Mrs. Audra Brown of Lansing; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Green, and her grandfather, Nathan W. Green, all living on East Roosevelt avenue.

Otto Forest Sult

In 1946 Otto Sult was of 147 Kalamazoo street, Battle Creek, according to his mother's obituary.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Wednesday, April 6, 1960.  Otto F. Sult, 61, of 419 W. Columbia Ave., who retired last September after 25 years as a tinsmith in the employ of the U.S. Register , died this morning in a local hospital where he had been a patient for seven weeks. He came to Battle Creek about 1919 from Sherman, Mich.  Mr. Sult was a member of the First Pilgrim Holiness Church.  A native of Fulton, Ind., Mr. Sult was a son of George W. and Emma Jane (Frye) Sult.  He was first married in 1919 to Floella Green, who died here in 1940.  In 1943 he was married to Mrs. Maxine (Durphy) Ainslie, who survives.  There are seven surviving
children from his first marriage:  Winfred and Wesley of Marquette, Leon R. of 4552 Baseline Rd., Mrs. Melvin (Ollene) Eatherton and Mrs. Merle (Marita) Evans of M-37 Bedford Twp., Mrs. Paul (Betty) King of St. Ann, Mo., and Miss Caroline Clemens of 15 Harold St. whose name was changed by adoption.  There are 14 grandchildren.  Also surviving are three brothers, Bert of Owosso, Russell of Tucson, Ariz., and Guy of 49 W. Alden St.; a sister, Mrs. Chloe Spidle of Tucson, Ariz.; five stepchildren, Mrs. John (Betty) Potter of Banfield, Mrs.Florence Palmer of the W. Columbia avenue address, Mrs. David (Dorothy) Kellogg of Jackson, J. Leonard Ainslie of Herron, Ill. and Edward Ainslie of 25 Meachem ave. and 11 step-grandchildren.

April 11, 1998, visit to Bedford Cem..  The marker reads, "Otto F. Sult, 1899-1960."  Take the first right drive after you enter the Cem., then the drive turns to the left.  The markers are on the right at the far edge of the Cem. about two car lengths from the turn.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Thursday, March 23, 1989, p. 2A. Bellevue - Leon R. Sult, 67, of East Baseline Road, died Tuesday, March 21, in Community Hospital, where he had been a patient since March 14.  He was born in Battle Creek and was a lifelong resident.  He attended Kellogg Agricultural Schools, Hickory Corners.  He served in the Signal Corps with the Army for three years in England during World War II.  He was employed by Hydreco Division of General Signal , Kalamazoo for 27 years until he retired in 1981.  He had worked there in supervision and in the experimental lab. Previously, he was employed by the old Oliver Equipment   He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, woodcutting and cooking.  Surviving are his wife, the former Patricia K. Smith; (six step-children; 11 stepgrandchildren; and 5 step-great-grandchildren are listed); sisters, Ollene Eatherton and Marita Irving, both of Bedford, Betty King of St. Ann, Mo., and Carolyn Turner of Battle Creek; and a brother, Elmo Sult of Marquette.  His first wife, the former Iva L. Perry, died in 1987.  Services will be Friday at Farley-Estes Funeral Home.

Edmore, MI; wm, married, spouse: Ruth, age 30, occupation: roofer, Sheriff Goslin; informant: Lewis Green, Route 3, Battle Creek; buried 9 Dec 1941 in Bedford Cem., Calhoun , MI.  (The deceased's address is the same as his father's.  According to the newspaper article about Wayne's accident and death, he was estranged from his wife, Ruth.)

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Sunday, December 7, 1941, p1.  Man Is Killed, Two are Hurt.  One of Injured In Local Crash is Mother of 7.  Wayne Green dies Almost Instantly in Accident at Goguac and Twentieth Streets. Conditions are Critical.  One man was almost instantly killed and two other persons, a man and a woman, were critically injured at 5:15 p.m. Saturday when the coupe in which they were riding was almost completely demolished in a collision with a dump truck at West Goguac and Twentieth Streets.  Wayne (Joseph) Green, 32, of route three, a roofer for the Sheriff-Goslin Roofing , died from internal injuries before help could reach him.  Mrs. Evelyn Traister, 28, of 69 Grant, the mother of seven small children, suffered serious head injuries and possibly internal injuries.  Cleon Sult, 28, of 1 Avenue B, employed in the shipping department at the Post Products division of General Foods Corp sustained severe head and body injuries. . . .The coupe, driven by Mr. Sult, was going south on Twentieth street and either failed to stop on reaching the intersection with Goguac or stopped and then started up without the driver seeing the truck.  The one and a half ton dump truck was going east
on Goguac.  The coupe had partially crossed the interesection and was in the east traffic lane on Goguac when it was hit broadside by the truck, turned partially around and hurled against a telephone pole at the southeast corner of the intersection.  Force of the impact pushed the right side of the car nearly half way toward the left side.  Mr. Green was seated on the right side of the car and suffered the full force of the impact. . .Motorists rushed the two
survivors of the coupe, both unconscious when removed from the wreckage, to Leila hospital . . . The three passengers of the coupe are related, state police were told.  Green and Sult are cousins and Mrs. Traister is distantly related to both.  Mr. Green has been estranged from his wife, Mrs. Ruth Green, residing at West VanBuren and Hubbard.  She survives him as does one son, Harold, by a former marriage, residing in Assyria Center. . . Besides his wife and son, Mr. Green is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Green of
Assyria Center, and his grandfather, Nathan Green of Pennfield Twp.; three sisters, Mrs. Floella Sult of Level Park, Mrs. Lila Samis of Assyria Twonship and Mrs. Audrey Brown of route three, Charlotte, and nine nieces and five nephews.  Mr. Green was born in Buckley in Wexford county on August 22, 1909, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis (Howe) Green.  He came to Battle Creek in 1917 and has made his home in or near the city since then.  the body was taken to the D. E. Royal funeral home where relatives were to make funeral arrangements
today.

NEWSPAPER ARTICLE. Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Tuesday, December 9, 1941, p8.  Services Held Today For Accident Victim.  Funeral services for Wayne (Joseph) Green, 32, of route three, killed in an automobile-truck collision at West Goguac and Twentieth streets late last Saturday were being held at the D.
E. Royal funeral home at 2 p.m. today.  Burial will be in the Bedford Cem.. Doctors reported today that the conditions of Mrs. Evelyn Traister, 28, of 69 Grant, and Cleon Sult, 28, of 1 Avenue B were slightly improved.  Mr. Sult was the driver of the coupe which was demolished in a collion with a dump truck operated by Alba Weever of 43 West Grand Circle.  Mr. Green and Mrs. Traister were riding with Sult.

(Willison) Burt, 69, of 25 Keith Drive, died today in Arrowood Nursing Center, where she had been a patient since August 1980.  She was born in Johnston Twp., Barry County, and moved to Battle Creek in 1954.  She had worked as nurse aide and formerly was employed by the West Michigan Launderette.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Valentine Recreation Center.  She was preceded in death by two husbands, Harold (should be Joseph Wayne) Green and Ernest Tungate.  She is survived by her husband, Harold R. Burt; a son, Harold Green of Rosebush; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. James (Velma) Lick of 71 Willow St.; and brothers, Wilbur Willison of 60 W. Kingman Ave., William of
519 Burr St. and Theron of Marshall.  Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shaw Funeral Home.
