In 1964 Lila Samis was of Hastings according to her father's obituary.  In 1977 Lila was of Iron River, Michigan, according to her sister's, Audrey's, obituary. In 1991 Lila Green was of Kalamazoo according to her son's, Dean's,
obituary.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1992, p. A2. Lila A. (Green) Samis, 80 of 1953 Steger, Kalamazoo, and formerly of Delton died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1992, at Borgess Medical Center.  Mrs. Samis
was born Nov. 18, 1912, in Sherman to Lewis and Kitty (Howe) Green.  She was a 1928 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School.  She loved to cook and sew.  Mrs. Samis lived many years in the Delton area on Cobb Road and Wilkinson Lake.  She married Loren A. Samis on Aug. 6, 1929.  He died in July 1979.  Shewas also preceded in death by a son, Dean L. Samis, in July 1990; two sisters; and a brother.  She is survived by daughters, Shirley Martin and Bonnie Vicol, both of Kalamazoo, Nancy Cotton of Delton and Marla Saulter of Conroe, Texas; sons,
Darrell Samis of Mound, Minn., Lewis Samis of Hastings and Kevin Samis of Delton; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Services Wednesday at Williams Funeral Home, Delton.  Burial at East Hickory Corners Cemetery.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Friday, July 20, 1979, p. A5. Delton - Lorian A. Samis, 71, of Route 3, Cobb Road, died early today in Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, after a lengthy illness.  He was born in Reed City and retired in the mid-1960s from Dewey's Car Palace where he was an auto body repairman for several years.  Surviving are his wife, the former Lila Green; daughters, Shirley Martin of Augusta, Bonnie Vicol of  Bissett of Delton, and Marla Saulter of Salisbury, Mo.; sons, Dean Samis of Iron River, Lewis of Hastings, Darryl of Wisconsin and Kevin of Delton; 22 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and sisters, Veta Todd and Marie Vaughn, both of Marquette, Rose Baxter of Flint, and Leida Williams of Battle Creek.  Services will be Sunday at Williams Funeral Home (Delton).

In 1964 Mrs. John (Audrey) Brown was of Mason Avenue, Battle Creek, according to her father's obituary.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Thursday, May 12, 1977, p. B1. Mrs. Audrey E. (Green) Brown, 62, of 144 Hussey Avenue was dead on arrival Wednesday afternoon at Leila Hospital where she was taken after being stricken at her residence.  She was born in Kalkaska and resided in Battle Creek during her childhood.  She later moved to Lansing and returned to Battle Creek in 1943.  She was employed by Kellogg  and retired in 1974 because of ill health after 25 years of service.  She was a member of a TOPS Club and the Kellogg 25-Year Club.  Surviving are her husband, John H. Brown; daughters, Mrs. Abie (Elaine) Ackley of 133 Wheeler Ave. and Mrs. Johnny (Lorna) Lane of Crooked Lake, Delton; a son, Norman L. Brown of 43 Pickford Ave.; 15 grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Lorren (Leila) Samis of Iron River.  Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Farley Funeral Home.  Burial in Memorial Park Cem., Battle Creek.

We are not sure of Cleon's marriage to Ada Budd.  Information on her was taken from marriage license of Duane L. Sult dated 14 Nov 1954 which stated his mother was Ada Budd and his father was Cleon Sult.

In 1955 Cleon was of Route 8, Battle Creek, according to his father's obituary.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Saturday, 15 April 1961.  Cleon L. Sult, 48, a 25-year employee as a pressman for the Carton and Container Division of the General Foods Corp., died early this morning at his residence, 133 S. 28th St.  Although he had suffered from a heart ailment for 18 months, he worked his regular shift yesterday and his death was unexpected.  He joined the company March 9, 1936.  Mr. Sult was born in Sherman, Mich., and came here as a child with his parents, Everett and Isabelle (Green) Sult.  He was married secondly here Dec. 24, 1955 to Mrs. Marie R. Bailey who survives.  Also surviving are a son by a previous marriage, Duane L. of 36 W. Pitman Ave.; two granddaughters; two sisters, Mrs. William (Evelyn) Hyde of Baltimore, MD, and Mrs. George (Letha) Lassese of Cheverly, Md.; a brother, Kenneth E. of Omaha, Neb.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Bill (Patricia) DeVoll of 59 S. Woodrow Ave., and a step-son, Theron Bailey of Columbus, Ohio.  Mr. Sult was president of the Post Sportsmen's Club and a member of the Post 25-Year Club, Moose Lodge No. 326 and the Legion of the Moose.  During World War II he saw foreign duty with the Maritime Service.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Thursday, March 8, 1985, p. B2. Irene M. Sult.  Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Lehman Chapel of Shaw Funeral Homes, Bellevue, for Irene M. (Ross) Sult, 69, of Battle Creek who died Thursday at the home of a niece in Bellevue where she was temporarily residing.  She was born in Avoca and came to Battle Creek in 1930 from Detroit.  She had worked as a supervisor at the former Fort Custer State Home and also had been an employee of Post Division, General Foods Corp., and Eaton Corp. Surviving are sisters, Mildred Running of 1061 Riverside Drive and Iva Myers of Bellevue.

Sult, 84, of Union City died tuesday, May 25, 1999, in Tendercare of Marshall.  He was born March 10, 1915, in Kalkaska to Everett and Isabell (Green) Sult.  He was co-owner of E. L. Sult and Son Heating  in Battle Creek and owned and operated The Hitching Post restaurant in Hallam, NE.  He also was employed by Climax Lumber.   He married Marjorie Horst on Dec. 20, 1962.  She survives.  Also surviving are sons, Kenneth M. Sult of Union City, Gerald L. Sult of East Leroy and Jeffrey Dayton (is this a step-son?) of Kansas City, KS; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evely Hyde of Cattonsville, MD.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Cleon Sult; and a sister, Letha Lassie. 33962. Pearl S. Swartz

In 1946 Mrs. J. (Pearl) Lawder was of Lansing, Michigan, according to her father's obituary.  In 1961 Pearl was of Pensacola, FL according to her mother's obituary.  In February 1997 Elma Carpenter spoke with Pearl's sister, Ella Haven, age 97, of Battle Creek.  Ella furnished her sister's date of birth and children's names and their spouses.  Ella said her sister, Pearl, was deceased.

Mrs. Lawder was a native of Eastport, Michigan, and had been a resident in Pensacola for the past 25 years.  She was a member of the First Christian Church . . .  She was the widow of the late Reverend J. Clyde Lawder. Survivors include four daughters - Wilma Weaver of Rockford, Michigan, Leona Morris of Panama City, Florida, Eulalie C. Mock and Elinor Clydine Pickard, both of Pensacola, Florida; three sisters, Ella Haven, Vera Harelston and Marian Eckler, all of Battle Creek, Michigan; one brother, Earl Swartz of Battle Creek, Michigan; two grandsons; and seven granddaughters; and one great-grandson. . . Clyde Lawder, 83, of 1020 Pickens Ave., died Sunday morning at West Florida Hospital.  Rev. Lawder, a native of Hillsdale, Kansas, had resided in Pensacola since 1957. Over a 45-year period he served as minister to six congregations.  He pastored two churches in Lansing, Michigan, and retired in 1965 from the First Christian Church of Pensacola.  He was named Minister Emeritus from the First Christian Church of Pensacola.  Survivors include his wife, Pearl Lawder of Pensacola; four daughters, Wilma Weaver of Rockford, Michigan, Leona Morris of Panama City, Florida, Eulalie C. Mock and Elinor Clydine Pickard of Pensacola; two grandsons and seven granddaughters.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m.Tuesday.  Burial will be at Bayview Memorial Park. . . OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Friday, Sept. 7, 1984, p 2B.  Vera L. (Swartz) Harleston, 79, of 190 Eldred St., died Thursday in Leila Hospital. She had been ill since July.  She was born in Athens and resided in the Athens, East Leroy and Battle Creek areas all her life.  She was a member of Sonoma United Methodist Church and a birthday club in the church.  Her husband, Carl W. Harleston, died in 1967.  She is survived by a son, Roy J. Harleston of 3625 Strickland Road; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Earl Swartz of East Leroy; and sisters, Ella Haven and Marian Eckler, both of Battle Creek.  Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Sonoma United Methodist Church.  Memorial donations may be made to the parsonage building fund at the church.  Arrangements are by Richard A. Clarence L. Eckler

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, 20 Jun 1995, p 2A.  Clarence L. Eckler, 91, of Battle Creek died Saturday, June 17, 1995, in Evergreen Manor after a long illness. Born May 13, 1904 in Battle Creek to Fred and Alta (Hicks) Eckler, he was a lifelong resident of the Battle Creek and East Leroy areas.  Mr. Eckler was employed for 20 years at Oliver Corporation.  He also was employed at Kimball Nursing Home.  He attended the Sonoma United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed reading and was an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan.  He married Marion M. Swartz on Aug. 29, 1927 in South Bend, Ind.  She survives. Also surviving are sons, Delmer C. Eckler of Houston and Donald K. Eckler of Battle Creek; daughters, Gloria A. Burrows of Delton, Lois D. Stock of Reno, Nev., and Darlene J. Nimphie of Lambertville; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.  Services will be held later in Burr Oak Cem., Athens.  Arrangements by Richard A. (Hamilton) Swartz, 70, of 10110 4-Mile Road, died Tuesday, June 13, at home.  She had been ill since December.  She was born in Battle Creek and was a 1936 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School.  She was a 1938 graduate of the old County Normal School, Marshall.  She taught in rural schools in Eaton Rapids and substitute taught in what is now the Harper Creek School District.  She was a member of Sonoma United Methodist Church for over 40 years and taught Sunday School there over 35 years.  She was a member of the Wrong Way Tha Square Dance Club and Cheerful Camper Club.  Surviving are her husband of nearly 50 years, Earl L. Swartz; a son, Elton E. Swartz of Battle Creek; a daughter, Phyllis Lutz of Battle Creek; three grandchildren; sisters, Donna Keisiling of Ceresco and Frances Smith of Battle Creek; and a brother, Dale Hamilton of Lake Orion.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Shaw-Estes Funeral Home.  Memorial donations may go to Sonoma United Methodist Church or Good Samaritan Hospice Care.  Burial in Morgan Cem., Battle Creek.
