He is mentioned as Nathan Ide in the Probate Record Capt. Joseph Nash.
However Nathan Ide married Betsey Carpenter and died later than this Edward.

Amos Carpenter

Number 610 in the CARPENTER MEMORIAL on page 121.
Family on page 231 (# 233). He moved to Fairlee, VT where he died.

It was probably this Amos who served in the Revolutionary War.  He was a
private in Capt. Foster's Company, Col. Thomas Carpenter's Regiment in the
Rhode Island Alarm.  He served 5 days on the roll dated at Attleborough July
27, 1780 and marched to Tiverton.  He enlisted again in Capt. Robinson's
Company, Col. Dean's Regiment in the Rhode Island Alarm July 31, 1780 and
served 8 days marching again to Tiverton with the roll sworn in at Attleboro,
MA.

Allen Carpenter

Number 848 on page 149 in the Carpenter Memorial.
Family on page 270 (# 304).

A nephew of Col. Ethan Allen of Vermont whom he was probably named after.
Allen served in the Revolution in the 3rd Battalion of Connecticut Volunteers
with his brother Nathan, in Capt. Parker's Company, Col. Sage's Regiment.
Enlisted with his brother on March 7, 1777 and discharged March 17, 1780.
In 1818 he was a resident of Vermont and drew a pension from CT.


2837. Abiah Carpenter

Number 1862 on page 254 in the Carpenter Memorial.

1  MILI Abiah served in the Revolution as private in Captain Hick's
company, Colonel Daggett's regiment, Jan. 13, 1778;  served two
months, 19 days in the ,RI alarm, the roll sworn at
Rehoboth.  Abiah Carpenter of Rehoboth, private in Captain
Bullard's company, in Col. Thomas Carpenter's regiment, July 27,
1778, served one month, 16 days, in the ,RI alarm.

2840. Abel Carpenter

Number 1864 on page 254 in the Carpenter Memorial.
Family on page 426 (#605).  Residence Lyndon, VT.  He moved there in 1796 and
went into a school house to live until he could build a house of his own.
He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War - was engaged in the battle of
Monmouth, and Redbanks, and also in a skirmish at Harlem Heights, where he was
wounded by a musket ball which he received in his side and carried it with him
to his grave.
It was probably this Abel Carpenter who was Ensign in the 2nd RI
regiment, Israel Angel, colonel, and was promoted in the same company to 2nd
Lieutenant, services rendered in 1777 and 1778.
He reside in Lyndon at the time of his death.  he was one of the select men of
the town for 20 years, and filled various other offices in town with honor to
himself and credit to the town.  He never was confined to his bed a day in his
life by illness until his last sickness, 10 days before he died.
The family monument to Abel Carpenter Esq., one of the Revolutionary soldiers,
was the first monument errected in the cemetery at Lyndon, VT.
An Abel Carpenter served in the Revolutionary war as private in Captain Hicks
company, Col. Thomas Carpenter's regiment, Aug. 2, 1780; served 6 days; marched
to Tiverton on the RI alarm.  The compiler of the Carpenter Memorial
is not sure if this last Abel Carpenter is the same as this Abel Carpenter.

enlisted in the service as 2d lieutenant, in
Capt. Nathaniel Carpenter's company for six months;  was
discharged Jan. 15, 1776.  Samuel Carpenter of Rehoboth
commissioned 1st lieutenant in Capt. John Paine's company in
Col. Jacob French's regiment of ,MA militia; stationed
at Winter Hill, Feb. 27, 1776.  Samuel Carpenter of Rehoboth
commissioned 2d lieutenant in Capt. Hick's company, Colonel
Thomas' regiment, March 27, 1776;  Samuel Carpenter lieutenant
in Capt. Hick's company, Colonel Carpenter's regiment, in the
,RI alarm;  enlisted Dec. 8, 1776, served 16 days,
marched from Rehoboth to Bristol.
