>I am heavily involved in researching the entire FRANCISCO family, but
>especially the descendants of John and Aeltje (Doremus) Francisco. My
>4th great grandmother, Anna Francisco, wife of Henry VanDerCook, was
>their daughter. John and Aeltje's son, Abraham married Henry's sister,
>Hester VanDerCook. Another of John and Aeltje's sons, Levi Francisco,
>who later married your Charity Carpenter, first married Sarah "Sally"
>VanDerCook.  Levi and Sally Francisco had two sons, Johannes Francisco
>and Michael Francisco, before she died. Levi married Charity Carpenter
>on 28 November, 1786 at the Schagticoke Reformed Dutch Church,
>Schagticoke, New York. Levi Francisco was a Revolutionary War Soldier;
>he served in the 14th Regiment of Albany County Militia ("Col. Peter
>Yates' regiment") and is listed on the muster list of that regiment in
>NEW YORK IN THE REVOLUTION AS COLONY AND STATE. Levi and Charity
>Carpenter Francisco had the following children:
>
>1. Elizabeth Francisco, born 25 September, 1790 at Schagticoke,
>Rensselaer Co., NY; married Nathaniel GIFFORD; died 30 Septmber, 1823
>(location unknown). The couple had five known children, all surnamed
>Gifford; Roxanne, Matilda, Levi, Ira J. and Charles W.
>
>2. Charity Francisco, born 26 February, 1792 at Schagticoke; baptized 5
>December, 1792 at Schagticoke Reformed Dutch Church; died young.
>
>3. Stephen Francisco, born 18 February, 1794 at Schagticoke; baptized

>May, 1794 at Schagticoke Reformed Dutch Church; no further data.
>
>4. Charity Francisco, born 14 December, 1795 at Schagticoke; baptized
14
>February, 1796 at Schagticoke Reformed Dutch Church; no further data.
>
>5. Phebe Francisco, born 17 October, 1797 at Schagticoke; baptized 14
>January, 1798 at Schagticoke Reformed Dutch Church; married George
>RIFENBERGH/RIFENBERG in 1817 at Pittstown, Rensselaer Co., NY; had 9
>children (all surnamed Rifenberg) as follows: Hiram, John, Amanda,
>Lorenda, Caroline, Levi Carpenter, Simon Peter, George Washington and
>Stephen Chester; died 24 January, 1868 in Cass Co., MI; buried in Sand
>Hill Cemetery, Cass Co., MI. Her grave was marked with a "daughter of a
>Revolutionary War soldier" flag marker in July, 1991 by the Abiel
>Fellows Chapter, DAR of Three Rivers. Phebe apparently had contact with
>my great-great grandfather, Henry VanDerCook Weatherwax, who lived not
>far from the family. I own one of Phebe's visiting cards, which was
>found among some family effects.
>
>6. Levi Francisco, Jr., born 11 August, 1800 in New York; married 13
>August, 1831 in New York Sarah "Sally" WEATHERWAX, elder sister to my
>great-great grandfather, Henry VanDerCook Weatherwax; they had two
>daughters: Harriet "Hattie" Francisco and name unknown who died in New
>York. Levi died 22 September, 1869 at Flowerfield Twp. St. Joseph Co.,
>MI and lies buried in the Peek Cemetery, Florence Twp., St. Joseph Co.,
>MI. Sally died 28 April, 1873 and is also buried in Peek Cemetery.
Their
>daughter, Hattie Francisco LeMunyon, is also buried with them (born
>1838, died 1867). Hattie was the first wife of Paris S. LeMunyan who
>went on to marry 2. Sarah J. JACKSON, whose mother, Olive Weatherwax,
>was my great-great grandfather's next eldest sister. Sarah Jackson
>LeMunyon was the great grandmother of my 4th cousin, Bob VanDeraa, of
>Three Rivers.
>
>I know it's confusing...and it's really even worse when you realize
that
>the aforementioned three sets of siblings who married each other in my
>4th great grandfather's generation were already first cousins once
>removed! (Those of us descended from the three marriages can claim
>double VDC lineage.) The grandmother of the Francisco siblings was
>Laventje VanDerCook who married Henry Francisco. The father of the
>VanDerCook siblings was Michael VanDerCook, who was the youngest known
>sibling of Laventje! Especially with the subsequent family
>intermarriages, it's a wonder that we all don't have one eye in the
>middle of our foreheads! Within the last month, I received information
>from a GIFFORD family researcher that Levi Gifford, son of Elizabeth
>Francisco and Nathaniel Gifford, married Alida VanDerCook, daughter of
>Gilbert VanDerCook and Cornelia Weatherwax. Yep...Cornelia was another
>elder sibling to my great-great grandfather, Henry VanDerCook
>Weatherwax!

>The basic vital data on the children of Levi Francisco and Charity

Journal.

>Essex and Morris Counties, N.J. and of Schagticoke, N.Y.",
>which appeared in volume 96 of the NYGBR (July, 1965), pages 156-172.
>The remainder of the data comes either from my personal research or
from
>Internet sources.
>
>Do you have any data at all on Charity Carpenter's first husband? Did
>they have any children? Is his surname FOUTAIN or FOUNTAIN?
>
>If you have any questions or requests, please let me know.
