Number 799 in the book "The Carpenter Family in America" by Daniel H.
Carpenter, 1901. Family & notes on page 260.
He was a farmer at Mt. Kisco.
Per the Carpenter Memorial on page 62 under number 90: John Bedell married an
Elizabeth Carpenter. (HOWEVER that information is almost 100 years to
early for that family! MAYBE it fits here!)
"They had a daughter Sarah (Bedell) who m. Peter Cooper." Peter Cooper was born
12 Feb 1791, NY and married Miss Sarah Bedell of Hempstead, LI, Dec. 1813.
She died in 1869. Is this the right father and mother?

MISC: Some good and some screwed up info follows.
Walter T., b. 1811 at Duanesburg, son of Isaac, b. 1779 and Mercy, son of Abraham,
Born on the 1st of January 1811, at Duanesburg, near Albany, New York, he is a son of Isaac and Mercy (Frost) Carpenter. The family is of Welsh lineage and the ancestry can be traced back in direct line to Ezra Carpenter, who was born in Wilkshire, Wales, in 1570, and had two sons, Richard and William. The latter never married, and died in 1701, leaving an estate estimated at three million pounds sterling. Richard Carpenter had two sons, Ephraim and Timothy, who immigrated to the United States in 1678, and located in Hempstead, Long Island. The latter was born December 19, 1665, and had three sons, John, Runyan and Timothy. The first named, John Carpenter, of Oyster Bay, was born June 13, 1690, and had two sons, John and Abel. The former was born January 7, 1714, was a hatter by trade, and in 1736 removed to New Castle, Westchester County, New York.
Of his three sons, Abraham became the grandfather of our subject. He was born in Westchester County, December 27, 1728, and spent his entire life there, carrying on agricultural pursuits. He married Lydia Potter and had a family of ten children, including Isaac Carpenter the father of Richmond's well known citizen. He was born in Westchester County, New York, in 1779, and after his marriage to Mercy Frost removed to Duanesburg, that state, where he lived for ten years. In 1815 he became a resident of Clinton County, Ohio

Subject: carpenter research
Dear John,
I am rather new at geneological research, and I have come across your name several times in looking at message boards, etc. I am hoping you can help me.My great grandfather was Alfred Madison Carpenter. I have info that he married Maria Schoonover in Benton Co. Iowa in 1871, and that my grandfather was born there in 1874. According to family story, they came to Kansas in a covered wagon when my grandfather was only a few years old.
Do you happen to have any information on who the parents of Alfred Madison Carpenter might be? I am stuck at this particular point in my research and hope you can point me in the right direction. Any help you have to offer will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Bonnie Pugh Kershaw
