Charles L. Seedorff went by the name of "Johnny" Seedorff.  He was of Delton, Michigan, at the time of his parents' 50th anniversary in April 1976.

Charles L. Seedorff is buried on Lot 60, Grave 3, Section C, Newton Cem.. The burial records show he had four wives: 1) Lucille Marshall; 2) Yvonne Willrich Hanchett; 3) Mary Rice and 4) Margaret VerHage.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer, Thursday, August 9, 1990, p4A.  Delton - Charles L. "Johnny" Seedorff, 59, of 7520 Milo Road, and formerly of Marshall, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 1990, after being stricken at home.  He was born in Ceresco, and was a 1948 graduate of Marshall High School and he served with the Army during the Korean conflict.  He had farmed on Milo Road since 1962.  He was a member of Calhoun Draft Horses Association and had shown Belgian horses for many years.  He was a member of Michigan Farmers Hall of Fame and he attended Faith United Methodist Church, Delton.  Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret VerHage; daughters, Janice Greenman of Gillette, Wyo., Judy Seedorff of Toledo and Sally Seedorff of Kalamazoo; a son, Larry Seedorff of Delton; a stepdaughter, Pauline VanDis of Jackson and Shannon Girstz of Allegan; a stepson, Tim VerHage of Allegan; 10 grandchildren; his father,Charles P. Seedorff of Ceresco; a sister, Helen Flanders of Ceresco; and a brother, Allen Seedorff of Marshall.  His wife, Yvonne, and a granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Tennis, both died in 1981.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church, Delton.  Arrangements by Williams Funeral Home, Delton. Donations may go to Michigan Farmers Hall of Fame or Faith United Methodist Church.

(Willrich) Seedorff, 47, of 7520 Milo Road, and formerly of Marshall, died today in Leila Hospital, Battle Creek, after a long illness. She was born near Marshall and resided in the area until moving to Delton four years ago.  She graduated from Marshall High School in 1952 and was employed as a cook by Leila Hospital from 1965 to 1980, when illness forced her retirement.  She attended Faith United Methodist Church.  Her first husband, Claude Hanchett, died in 1960.  She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Seedorff; a daughter, Mrs. Kim (Pauline) VanDis of Middleville; step-daughters, Mrs. Lynn (Janice) Greenman of Delton, Judy Seedorff of Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Glenn (Sally) Tennis of Delton; a stepson, Larry Seedorff of Delton; four grandchildren; her father, George Willrich of Tekonsha; and a brother, Herbert J. Willrich of Marshall.  Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, Marshall.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Local arrangements are by Williams Funeral Home.


Arlo Duaine Auten

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Wednesday, 22 Jun 1983, p2B. Athens - Arlo Duaine Auten, 61, of 300 W. Mill St., was pronounced dead on arrival today at Community Hospital in Battle Creek where he was taken after being stricken at home.  He was born in Lenawee County, graduated from Britton High School and moved to Athens in 1946.  He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and had served in the South Pacific.  He attended the Athens Congregational Church.  He retired two weeks ago from Eaton Corp. in Battle Creek where he had been employed 28 years.  Surviving are his wife, the former Patricia Fox; daughters, Mrs. Wilfred (Ann) Mazur of Maryland, Mrs. Bud (Carolin) Howes of Athens and Mrs. Daniel (Suellen) Schobert of Saginaw; six grandchildren; brothers, Robert Auten of Tecumseh and Raymond of Clinton; and his mother, Mrs. Marion Auten of Britton.  Arrangements are pending at Spencer Funeral Home.  Services are scheduled for Friday, 24 June 1983.  Burial in Burr Oak Cem..


3492. Bruce Alan Bishop

Bruce was distantly related to his wife, Fern.  His grandfather, Rial Allen Carpenter, was a brother to Abner Carpenter who was Fern's great- grandfather.  Fern's mother was Opal Adell Chichester, daughter of Albert Ernest Chichester and Minnie Ellen Carpenter.  Minnie Ellen Carpenter was the daughter of Abner Carpenter.  Rial Allen Carpenter and Abner Carpenter were brothers and the sons of Calvin L. Carpenter and Eleanor D. Pierce Carpenter.

In 1981 Donna Hellewell met Bruce's grandmother, Lina Snyder (lived to be 104), and Fern's mother, Opal Chichester.  Both were very gracious ladies and helped very much in the compilation of these records!  Lina was personally visited on four occasions, at age 91, 93, 100, and 103. Opal loaned Donna Hellewell family pictures to take to Battle Creek to photocopy and gave her a place to stay while she was in Athens. Both were wonderful women.  In 1999 Donna Hellewell lives in Aptos, CA.

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer, Wed. Aug 31, 1994,  p2A.  Bruce A. Bishop, Battle Creek.  Bruce A. Bishop, 70 of Battle Creek died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 1994, at home after a four-year illness.  He was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Kalamazoo, to Kellogg M. and Merna L. (Snyder) Bishop. He graduated from Athens High School in 1942 and lived in the Battle Creek, Athens and Kalamazoo areas all his life.  Mr. Bishop was employed for 41 years at Kraft General Foods Corp. before retiring Feb. 1, 1985.  He was a supervisor for many years.  From June 27, 1944, to Nov. 21, 1945, during World War II, he served as a second lieutenant with the Army Air Corps as a fighter pilot, receiving the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star. He previously served as an air cadet from Nov. 30, 1942, to June 24, 1944, when he received his commission in the Army Air Corps.  He was a former member of Athens Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5319 and a longtime bowler in the Nottke Senior League.  He played baseball and slow-pitch ball with Battle Creek city leagues and Athens teams.  On July 25, 1947, he married Fern I. Mitchell in Battle Creek.  She survives.  Also surviving are sons, Gregory A. Bishop of Niceville, Fla., and Bradley R. Bishop of Battle Creek; a daughter, Stephanie J. Newburn of Battle Creek; six grandchildren; his father, Kellogg M. Bishop of Battle Creek; brothers, John K. Bishop of Battle Creek and Fred M. Bishop of Athens; and sisters, Barbara A. Danilowicz and Mary E. Wesner of Wilmington, N.C., and Carol Bishop of Denver, Colo.  Services:  11 a.m. Thursday at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin A. Savola officiating. Burial:  Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Stanley Joseph Danilowicz

OBITUARY.  Battle Creek Enquirer and News, Thursday, 27 Oct 1960, p. 15. Stanley Joseph Danilowicz, 42, an inspector at the Eaton Mfg. , a World War II Navy veteran and a local athlete, died unexpectedly early this morning from recurrence of a heart ailment at his home, 140 James St.  He had worked yesterday at the local plant where he had been employed since 1940. Mr. Danilowicz was a former member of the United Steel & Wire  baseball team; bowled with Eaton  teams, and in 1956 was the Eaton  golf champion.  He was born here, a son of Joseph and Mary (Jachimek) Danilowicz and was married June 5, 1946 to Barbara Bishop who survives.  Also surviving are two sons, Edward J., 8, Peter F., aged six months; a brother, Frank, of 291 Katherine St. and a sister, Mary Danilowicz of Grand Rapids.  Mr. Danilowicz was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus, Council No. 575; the Disabled American Veterans and the Croatian Fraternal Union.
