995. Isaac Ernest "Ernest" Carpenter

NOTE: This Carpenter line updated by William Huisman via email GEDCOM in June 2012.

My Grandfather did not like his first name. He always went by his middlename "Ernest". On his grave stone he has it as "I. Ernest Carpenter". Hisnickname was Ernie. All his children called him "Poppie" even in theirold age. No one ever called him Dad, Daddy, Father, etc. He loved hisKing Edward cigars and his beer. When I received my driver license, I gotthe honor of driving him to the taverns on Main Street in Anderson,Indiana. Being only 16, I would drop him off at one and he told me whichone to pick him up at and at what time. I never got to drink a beer withhim as he died before I was 21. I did try one of his cigars though(behind his back) and got sick. Ah, those were the days.
