We started farming there on eighty acres. We have four sons: John Zael Jr. 4-4-41; Donald Lee 3-6-43; David Lynn 3-20-47; and Carrol Howard 9-23-48. In the spring of 1954 we outgrew the farm and decided to expand. We moved to the Ceresco area of Calhoun County. In the spring of 1960 we returned to Barry County in the Banfield area, (1005 Bristol Rd.) John Zael Jr. had graduated from Marshall High School and was in college, but the other three graduated from Delton Kellogg. The dairy operations increased as time went by. After 19 years of working and traveling for Eaton Corporation, John Zael Jr. and wife Barbara (Sommers) Carpenter started their own business (BJ Hydraulics, Inc.) at 6590 Wall Lk. Rd. They have three children: Carmala Carol 1-2-62, Carlene Carrie Carpenter (Hook) 5-22-63, and John Zael III 2-3-68.
