Grace Frances was mentioned as "Mrs. J. C. Cellar of Omaha, Neb." in her mother's (Carrie Carpenter Kohfeld's) obituary in June 1958.

OBITUARY: From Kansas Press Service 701 Jackson, Topeka, Ka.  Kansas, Norton Telegram "Heart condition claims prominent Norton man  Harold C. Kohfeld, 70, well known Norton business man, died of a heart condition at 2:45 a.m. today, Saturday, Feb 13, at his residence at (?) W. Wilberforce.   Mr. Kohfeld had been ill for some time.  He had been transferred from the Norton County Hospital to Sabury Hospital in Salina, but had improved enouch to return home Monday of this week.   Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Scott-Brantley Funeral Home.  Rev. Richard B. Bowersox will officiate and burial will be in the Norton Cemetery . . . He was born July 4, 1900 at Emporia, the son of Frank Kohfeld and Carrie Carpenter.  Mr. Kohfeld graduated from Barnard High School and received a BM Degree, Violin at Bethany College.  He also did graduate word (work) at Kansas University.   After graduating from college, Mr. Kohfeld came to Norton.  In June 15, 1927, he married Alice Campbell in Norton.    Harold taught instrumental music in Norton and Colby from 1922 to 1942.  He has been Executive-Vice President at the First national Bank in Norton since 1942.    Mr. Kohfeld was active in the United Methodist Church, AF & AM Masonic Lodge, Isis Shrine, and Community Concert.  He is a Past President of Rotary and had served on the NCHS School Board.   He is survived by his wife, Alice, of the home;  his son, Charles , and wife, Beverly, Norton;  a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Kohfeld, (wife of Kenneth Frank)  Logan, Utah; eight grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents, a son, (Kenneth Frank) and two sisters (Grace Francis and Leona Mae).."


Alice Campbell

OBITUARY;  Graveside services held today for Alice Kohfeld, 80.  "Alice Kohfeld, Norton, died June 18 at the Andbe Home at the age of 80.  Graveside services were held this morning, June 20, at 8:30 in the Norton Cem. with the Reverend Jack Kersenbrock officiating.  A memorial has been established to the Norton Library Foundation   Enfield Funeral Home, Norton, was in charge of arrangements.   Alice was born October 12, 1907 in Norton, the daughter of Charles Wilson and Lena Belle Scanlon Campbell.  She attended the Norton schools and Kansas University.   She was united in marriage to Harold C. Kohfeld on June 15, 1927 at Norton.  They made their home in Colby until 1942 when they moved to Norton.   She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Norton, P.E.O., and the Order of Eastern Star.     Survivors include one son, Harold C. "Chuck" Kohfeld, Norton; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.    She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and one son, Kenneth."

2351. Earl Raymond Carpenter

1920 U. S. Census, Thomas , Hale Twp., Kansas, he is in his father's home, age 11.

Obituary, Colby Free Press, October 2, 1984.  "Earl Carpenter", son of Lewis and Virginia (Rouse) Carpenter, was born on Jan. 19, 1908, in a sod house located in Kit Carson County, Colo.  He died on Sept 21, 1984, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Neb.  He was 76 years old.    Mr. Carpenter spent most of his boyhood days in Brewster, (Kansas).  On June 15, 1929, he married Lura Elma Imhoff in Hays.  The Carpenters had eight children.  Mr. Carpenter worked as a farmer most of his life.    The Carpenters moved to Cambridge in 1981.  Mr. Carpenter did "Green Thumb" work at the school and golf course.   Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, William and Gerald, and one brother. Lynn.   Survivors are his wife, Lura of Cambridge, children, Raymond of Goodland, Russell of Denver, Robert of Oklahoma City, Carroll of Cambridge, Neb., Ernest of Ponca City, Okla., Terry of Wichita; a brother, James of Denver; two sisters, Thelma and Marguerite of Oklahoma City, Okla; 19 grand children and eight great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept 25, 1984, at the Calvary Baptist Church.  Burial was at Cambridge Fairview Cem..

OBITUARY:  Colby Free Press, May 25, 1990.  "Lura Carpenter, formerly of Colby died May 22, 1990, in Cambridge, Neb.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cambridge, with the Rev. Tim Burke officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Cambridge.   . . .Mrs. Carpenter was born Dec. 28, 1906 in Guide Rock, Neb., to William and Grace (Gillispie) Imhoff.  She married Earl Carpenter June 15, 1929 at Hays, Kan.  He died Sept. 21, 1984.    Survivors include six sons, Raymond of Goodland, Russell of Ponca City, Okla, Robert of Newalla, Okla., Churck of Cassidy, Arizona; Ernest, Ponca City, Okla., and Terry of Mulvane, Kan., 19 grandchildren; 14 Great-grandchildren; one great-great-granchild; and a brother, Frank, Manitou Springs, Colo.   ..."
