Hi John.
I just got off the telephone with my cousin who lives in Tyler, Texas.
While we were talking, I mentioned Mollie's name and that I thought she
was of indian blood but could not prove it.
My cousin said the our grandmother, Allie Mae Lewis Pilgrim, told her
many times that Mollie was indeed a full blood Cherokee Indian.  I told
her that Mollie was born in Upshur County and she said that was true and
that just north of Gilmer lies the Cherokee Trace and there was a
Cherokee settlement there and that was where Mollie was born.  This
corroborates what my uncle told me in mid-June when I was up that way.
My cousin said that our grandmother gave her Mollie's eyeglasses and the
glasses are the only relic of Mollie's existence to survive to this day.
Now I'm wondering if maybe I should go ahead and gamble $100 to have the
Cherokee Nation Registration Authority do the search and send me the
information listed on the Dawes Census Rolls for Mollie Rebecca
Carpenter.  Sure would like to know.
I thought that maybe your suggestion that Mollie might have been adopted
was the more plausible explanation but this new information shines a
whole new light on the subject.
Exciting stuff huh :) ?
I'll keep you posted.
Billy Pilgrim.

Subject: Carpenter Cousins Update

Hello,

My father Warren George Nancarrow died Feb 25, 2019. His mother was Christine Taylor Nancarrow.  His maternal grandmother was Barbara Dorothy Smith, and his great grandmother was Paralee Carpenter Smith.

If it is helpful to you, before my father died he had his Y-DNA tested with FTDNA. His kit number is 511296.

He married Hilda Harkness (1926-2013) in 1945. They had 4 children:
Margie Nancarrow (b.1949), Mindy Nancarrow (b.1951), Mark Harkness Nancarrow (b.1955) and Matthew Taylor Nancarrow (b.1957.)

There are two additional generations if you want those names. There is a family tree on Ancestry under the name of Nancarrow Harkness Tree.  Some of the information going back 6 or more generations is still being verified, but the information on the more recent generations is correct.

Cheers,
Margie Nancarrow
