Doris W. Alley, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Doris was born in Hamilton, AL on August 22, 1926, to Bernice E. Carpenter and Nettie Mae Palmer. Doris graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1944.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Harmon Edgar Alley Jr. and son, Theodore H. Alley.
Doris is survived by sons, Ron D. Alley of Albuquerque, NM and Orval L. Alley of Colorado Springs, CO, nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The Alley family wants to give a special thanks to Cynthia, Matthew and Meghan and the entire staff of Alliance Health Care for the special care of our mother.

ROBBIE CARPENTER, 64, Hamilton, died on Tuesday, August 27, 1996, at his residence. He was born on September 13, 1931, in Marion County, the son of Abe Rubel and Donnie Lou Cooper Carpenter. He was retired from Kraft General Foods. He was a veteran.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 30, 1996, at 11 a.m. from the Hamilton First Baptist Church with burial in the Barnesville Cemetery. Bro. Wayne Styres was the officiating minister.
Survivors include his wife - Mary Carpenter, Hamilton; two children - Dean Carpenter and Rochelle Carpenter, both of San Diego, Calif.; two step-sons - Michael Sanderson, Seattle, Wash., and Billy Spruiell, Hamilton; one grandchild - Seaton Carpenter, San Diego, Calif.; one step-grandchild - Karla Goodwin, San Diego, Calif.; one sister - Rubel Collins, Hamilton; and one brother - Jerry Carpenter, Orlando, Fla.
Hamilton Funeral Home directed the services.

Jerry Dean Carpenter of Davenport, Florida died peacefully on March 7, 2022 at home following a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife, Martha (Dailey) Carpenter, his son Rodney Carpenter, friend Felix Gentle, and granddaughter, Leah Green.

Jerry was born November 5, 1941 in San Diego, California. Jerry was married to Martha 47 years. He was a member of the Haines City Methodist church. He loved gospel music; he sang in quartets when he was young. He loved traveling, making new friends, and visiting family. He loved honesty and saw good in everyone. Jerry loved all sports, especially the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bucs. He was an over the road truck driver for many years with various companies. The last ten years, he worked as a security officer for Disney where he retired.

Preceding him in death are his parents Abe Rubel and Donna Lou Carpenter, three brothers, Billie, Robbie, and Tommy Carpenter, as well as, two sisters, Dorothea M. Carpenter and Rubel Gray Collins.

Surviving children are Rodney Carpenter and Paula (Taylor) Carpenter, one grandchild Leah (Carpenter) Green. Surviving adopted children are Debra Robinson and Teresa Banks of Maine. Surviving step grandchildren are Amber Henault (Banks), Shelby Banks of Maine, Heather Barrett, Shannon Barrett, and Jamie Robinson of Maine and two great grandchildren Chloe Banks and Ella Henault of Maine.

Cremation and final rest at Bushnell, Florida at the Florida National Cemetery (Military Cemetery). Submitted by his sister-in-law, Mary Hodges

Rebecca Ann "Becky" Carpenter Taylor 72, New Palestine, passed away Friday, January 5, 2007.

Born on August 30, 1934 in Hackleburg, Alabama, she was the daughter of Bankhead and Cora (Baker) Carpenter. She married Robert Lee "Bob" Taylor on December 14, 1950.

She worked for Sears in Castleton in Customer Service from 1972-1978, Allstate Insurance in Carmel as a secretary from 1978-1985, and for Dean Witter in Carmel as a secretary from 1985-1987. Mrs. Taylor was a Girl Scout leader and a former member and Sunday School teacher at Aldersgate Church in Memphis, Tennessee. She volunteered at New Palestine Elementary, sold and collected Longaberger baskets, and enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. She was an avid Colts and Pacers fan and loved supporting her grandsons in their many activities.

Surviving her are her daughters, Belinda (Ken) Heller of Cumberland and Tina (Steve) England of McCorsdsville; grandsons, John Heller and Robert England; nieces and nephews; and dog, Sadie. Preceding her in death were her husband; brothers, Jack and Bob Carpenter; and sister, Faye Carpenter.

Celebration of life services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Erlewein Mortuaries, 1484 W US 40, Greenfield, with visitation two hours prior to the service. Rev. Jim Burns will be officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation, 2600 Fernbrook Lane, Suite 119, Minneapolis, MN 55447-4752.

Robert L. Taylor

Robert Lee "Bob" Taylor 75, New Palestine, passed away Wed., November 29, 2006 at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born on June 13, 1931 in Atwood, Alabama, he was the son of Robert Luther and Hattie Mae (Lawler) Taylor. He married Rebecca A. (Carpenter) Taylor on December 14, 1950 in Fulton, Mississippi.

Mr. Taylor was a loss control branch manager for CTEK, a division of Continental Insurance Company, in Indianapolis for 25 of the 35 years from 1957-1992. He was a member of Industrial Risk Insurers, American Society of Safety Engineers, and National Fire Protection Association. He was also commissioned by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors and was a qualified vibration analyst and a licensed boiler and elevator inspector in numerous states. Mr. Taylor received a certification as an Occupational Health and Safety Technologist. He had served as a Boilerman 3rd Class in the U.S Navy aboard the U.S.S. T.E. Chandler during the Korean War. Mr. Taylor enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, and gardening. He was an excellent woodworker and repairman, who loved his grandsons and pets.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca A. Taylor of New Palestine; daughters, Belinda (Ken) Heller of Cumberland and Tina (Steve) England of New Palestine; sisters, Audrey Mitchell and Barbara Cooper, both of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; grandsons, John Heller and Robert England; and dog, Sadie. His parents and two brothers, Bill and James Taylor, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 2, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation, 2600 Fernbrook Lane, Suite 119, Minneapolis, MN 55447-4752.

Services for James "Jim" Carpenter, age 60 of Rentz will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Union Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Dwaine Dunn and Rev. Jeff Handley will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Mr. Carpenter worked at Bilco Manufacturing in Macon and was a master carpenter. He attended Union Springs Baptist Church. Jim, a perfectionist by nature, was a wonderful loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and son-in-law. Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by his grandpa, James Carpenter, Sr. and grandma, Francis Carpenter. He passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012.

CARPENTER - Mrs. Thomas G. Carpenter passed away at her home on December 4, 2000. She resided near Blowing Rock, North Carolina, in the Hound Ears Club Resort. Oneida Pruette Carpenter was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to Elsie Gibbons Pruette and the late Wiley O. Pruette. She attended Central High School and Southwestern at Memphis, Baylor University, Memphis State University and the University of Florida and earned her Baccalaureate degree in English and her Masters degree in Speech. She taught in elementary and high school in Memphis; high school in Gainesville, Florida and in Palm Beach Junior College in Palm Beach, Florida. Mrs. Carpenter served as station manager of the Pensacola, Florida, ETA station after supervising the establishment of the facility and putting it on the air. Later she became Supervisor for Instructional Television for Duval County, Florida. She was a member of Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock. Her affiliations include member of Applachian State University Library Board, past member of the Defense Orientation Conference Association, officer in the Blowing Rock Community Club, member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Phi Delta Kappa professional education fraternity, Florida Endowment for the Humanities Committee, Order of Memphis (Duchess 1983) and Order of the Granaderos de Galvez, St. Augustine Chapter. She married Thomas G. Carpenter in 1948 and the couple had two children, Mrs. Debra Moore and Thomas Glenn Carpenter, Jr., both of Memphis. She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Debra and husband Ron; her son, Glenn and wife Lisa; her six grandchildren all live in Memphis; her mother, Mrs. Elsie G. Pruette of Gainesville, Florida; her brother, Barry Pruette of Alachua, Florida; her sister, Mrs. Laura Robinson of Memphis and an aunt, Mrs. Blanche Barbour, also of Memphis. A Memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, December 6, at 2:00 PM at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock, with Rev. Larry Lyon and Rev. Charles Carter, officiating. A second memorial service will be conducted Saturday, December 9, at 12:00 noon at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Memphis, Tennessee, with Rev. Paul Sweat officiating. Burial will follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Oneida Carpenter Nursing Scholarship Fund, in care of Watauga Medical Center Foundation, Inc., P. O. Box 2600, Boone, NC 28607. Arrangements by Hampton Funeral Service in Boone, North Carolina.
