1300. Gail Emmeline Elliott

Gail and Donna contacted each other on the internet along with Don Carpenter and Richard Carpenter.  April 9, 1997 was the day I (Donna Carpenter) was contacted.  What a surprise to find cousins on the anniversary of my Grandma Carpenter's birth!
Gail and I are cousins 3 times as we both have Averys, Phillips and Carpenters.  Gail gave me most of the information on Avery-Phillips. Per Donna Kay Carpener in 1997.

June 22, 2001 Hello everyone -
As some of you may already know, my mother passed away on Monday the 18th at 11:45 am.  Her end was a shock to all of us here in Dallas.
If you don't care to hear how she her last two days were, don't read on.  If you do, the details follow.  If you care to reach me to send condolences to my father or myself, you can reach me at gwt1962@aol.com
I arrived at the hospital Saturday about 10:30 to be with my folks when they got the news about the CAT scan performed on Friday.  The news was that she had a large tumor in her lung (in all likelihood from smoking) and that they would perform a biopsy on the tumor Monday to determine what treatment, of any, they could do.
Saturday night around midnight she suffered a massive heart attack and had to be put on life support.  During the night the doctor had to shock her heart twice since her heart rate was up near 200 beats a minute.
Sunday morning her right lung collapsed and the doctor managed to get it back up.
After a meeting with the doctors and finding out that there was no hope for treatment of any kind since the tumor was not just in her lung but had encroached on her heart, esophagus, and pretty much every vital function in
the middle of her chest, we (my father, my mother's sister, and I) acted in accordance with my mother's wishes to never be on life support and ordered the doctors to cease all life support functions.
After the machines were removed, my mother lasted less than 15 minutes.  She did not regain consciousness and passed silently at 11:45 am.
Please keep her in your thoughts so that her memory may live on.
thanks, gary
