Thomas A. Phillips of Lubbock went to be with the Lord on Sunday December 18, 2011 at the age of 65. He was born September 12, 1946 in Lubbock to Andrew D. and Mary (Townsend) Phillips. He graduated from Idalou High School. He worked as an independent insurance adjuster before retiring in September 2011; he also worked in the glass industry for many years.Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Lisa and husband Victor Koch of Stuttgart, Germany; son Stacy Phillips of Idalou, Texas; sister Kathleen Laird of Little Rock, Arkansas; and four grandchildren Libby Koch, Jack Koch, Matthew Phillips and Mark Phillips.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and one son Matthew Scott Phillips.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday December 21, 2011 at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Idalou. July 29, 1940-September 29, 2015 Linda Ann Suggs, 75, went to be with our Lord on September 29, 2015 after suffering through the debilitating disease of Alzheimer's.She was with her family at home in Mobile AL. She was the only child born to the late Herman and Margaret Carpenter in Hamilton AL on July 29, 1940.
Linda was passionate about life and left an imprint on every heart she touched. She was a teacher of the Word of God and shared her knowledge throughout her life in many ways. She started teaching with Child Evangelism conducting Good News Clubs in numerous neighborhoods across the United States as a result of being the wife of a Military Veteran for 20 years. She taught Sunday School, bible studies and directed choirs. She had a beautiful voice that blessed all who heard her sing! Linda was last employed at the Gospel Lighthouse Bookstore in Mobile where she continued to teach and share her wisdom, knowledge and great love that she had for people. So many lives were changed by her love, compassion and beautiful smile. Her Light so shined and her laughter can still be heard! She was full of the Joy of the Lord and freely passed It on. She was deeply loved and appreciated by her children who are rejoicing with her now that her suffering is over and that she is in the Presence of the Lord.
She is survived by her children Debbie(Keith) Phillips, Stephanie(Glen) Carter, Marty Suggs, Brad(Julie) Suggs, father of her children Bill Suggs, nine grandchildren, four great and many dear friends.
Linda made the decision to donate her body to medical science. Her family will have a private memorial when her remains are returned. "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Proverbs 31:29. Linda was indeed one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
