1169. Ethel Mae Carpenter

Ethel Mae Carpenter  -- born on 12 July 1933, died 23 June 1936, in Clay
County, Alabama.  The funeral home notice read: "Ethel Mae Carpenter, W.F.B.
Clay Co., Ala., of Rt. 2, Lineville, Ala. died at home 23 June 1936.
Certifying physicia was Dr. J. M. Barfield of City.  Arrangements made by
O'Neal Carpenter of Rt., Lineville, Ala.  Funeral services at Concord 24 June
1936 with interment at Concord Cemetery.  She was born 12 July 1933 and was 2
years 11 months and 11 days old.  Father was Oneal Carpenter and he was born
in Clay Co., Ala.  Maiden name of mother was Inez Carpenter [this should have
been Grogan] and she was born in Clay Co., AL."[Source: Funeral home record]
Her body was interred on June 24, 1936.

Her first husband was Billy Smith. OBITUARY Lena Carpenter Hayes, 90, of Talladega passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was known as "MIMI" to her family. Graveside service will be Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Hepzibah Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-1:00 PM. Rev. Trull Hill will officiate and Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega will direct. Lena was a long time member of Hepzibah Baptist Church. Mrs. Hayes is preceded in death by her husband, Crad L. Hayes, daughter Maureen Gallops and son Ronald Smith. Her survivors include, her son, Thomas D. Smith and wife Teenie of Talladega, grandchildren: Kim Anthony of Birmingham, Scott Gallops (Kim) of Mobile, Lori Busby (Michael) of Pell City, Kellie Ladner (Kenny) of Huntsville, Kristi Canty (Mark) of Orlando FL, Todd Smith (Anna) of Birmingham, Jill Moore (Scott) of Shreveport, LA and Samuel Smith of Pensacola, FL, along with 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, a former daughter-in-law, Barbara Smith of Pell City and sister, Evelyn Beverly of Talladega.
