Anna Mae Childs Carpenter age 90, of English Street in Spruce Pine passed from this earth on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Mitchell House in Spruce Pine.
Born January 31, 1925 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Maude Robinson Childs of the Three Mile Community. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband; Don E. Carpenter who passed away in March 1994, two brothers; Manning and Albert Childs, and a sister; Lena Childs Wise.
Anna Mae was a devoted member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church and former Sunday school teacher, W.M.U. President and Treasurer and Choir member. She was also a member of the E.C.A. Homemaker Club and Secretary of the Beaver Creek Club.
She is survived by two sons; Dale Carpenter and his wife, Mary Jean, and Dennis Carpenter and his wife Denise, all of the Three Mile Community, grandson; Jeff Carpenter and wife Meredith of Waynesville, NC, a great granddaughter; Adalyn, a sister; Thelma Andrews of State College, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Anna Mae Carpenter on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Reverend’s Brandon Pitman and Ken Mashburn officiating.

Dennis Carpenter, age 61, of Childs Lane in Newland, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville from complications of an aneurysm.Born on March 12, 1954 in Spruce Pine, NC, he was the son of the late Don and Anna Mae Childs Carpenter.
Dennis was a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. He was a former employee of Baxter’s Healthcare in North Cove in Marion for sixteen years until he became disabled from a stroke. He volunteered at Cannon Hospital in Linville for many years until his health condition worsened. Dennis touched many lives while he was there.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Denise Carpenter; one brother; Dale Carpenter and wife, Mary Jean; four sisters-in-law; his father-in-law; many nieces, nephews, and one great niece.

Fay Carpenter Duncan, 82, of Tappan Street, Spruce Pine, N.C., passed away Tuesday March 31, 2009 in the Mission St. Joseph's Hospital.A native of Avery County she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Levada Stamey Carpenter.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine and worked for Tri-County Oil Company for twenty one years.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Ray Duncan and a son Roger William Duncan.
Survivors include a daughter in law Julie H. Duncan of Greer, SC, one brother Lon Carpenter and wife Mary of Morganton, NC, a brother in law Charles Duncan and wife Norma of Spruce Pine, three sisters in law Kathleen Bowman and husband Tony of Jonesboro, TN, Anna Mae Carpenter of Spruce Pine and Millicent Jackson of Newland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Duncan will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday April 2 in the First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine with the Rev. David Vess officiating.
Interment will follow in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the Spruce Pine Volunteer Fire Department or to the First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine.

Arthur "Wayne" Carpenter, 67, of Plumtree, North Carolina entered into his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 28, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family. Wayne was born in Avery County on June 14, 1950 to Lemuel and Vinnie Lee Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: Brown Low and Mary Carpenter and Wil and Lottie Woods; and brother-in-law, Bob Thomas.Wayne was a loving husband, dad and grand-paw. Wayne was a member and deacon of Burlesons Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. His passions were his family, friends and raising Christmas trees. He never met a stranger and was always up for a long conversation.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 47 years, Frances Carpenter; sons: Trace Carpenter and his wife, Linda, Donnie Carpenter and his wife, Sarah and Jamie Carpenter, all of Plumtree. He was truly loved by his grandchildren: Shane Carpenter, David Carpenter, Sophia Carpenter, Jadie Carpenter and Allie; brother, Milas Carpenter and his wife, Pat, of Hickory; and sister, Martha Thomas of Burnsville. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, as well as his beloved dog, Bill.
A Memorial Service for Wayne will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 4pm at Burlesons Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Arthur Buchanan and Rev. Trace Carpenter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choosing.

RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Dennis Lee Carpenter, 55, of Ridgeley, passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Aug. 23, 1951, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Lee E. Carpenter Jr. and A. Mildred "Millie" (Everett) Carpenter. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jaylyn G. Carpenter.
Dennis was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a very dear friend to many. He was the proud owner and operator of Carp's Auto on Route 28 in Ridgeley.
He was a member of Knobley Mountain Post 136, American Legion, Ridgeley, and an Army veteran NCO.
He was very loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda G. (Lashley) Carpenter; one son, Lee E. Carpenter and wife Joslyn G. Page, Cumberland; two daughters, Joy N. Gillespie and husband Gary, Ridgeley, and Amy M. Reckley and husband Jeremy W., Fort Ashby; one brother, Ronald E. Carpenter and wife Donna, Cumberland; one stepbrother, Robert Carpenter, California; one sister, Linda G. Carpenter, Cumberland; one stepsister, Patty Hughes and husband Eldon, Whittier, Calif.; three grandchildren, Shawn M. Gillespie, Jessica M. Gillespie and Johnny L. Gillespie; and one granddaughter soon to arrive, Gracie K. Reckley.
As per his wishes, Dennis was cremated.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Cook officiating.Entombment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
