Bio: Randall R. Carpenter, 67, of Ephrata, passed away after a long illness on Monday, October 29, 2012, at his home. He was born in Ephrata to the late Roy R. and Ella Mae (Horst) Carpenter and was the husband of Carol Lynne Carpenter, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. Randall received his accounting degree in 1966 from the Goldey Beacom School of Business and worked as an accountant for Case New Holland, until his retirement in 2001. Always the jokester, he was a very dedicated father and grandfather and loved his family. Randall was a former Toastmasters member and treasurer for Ephrata Ambulance. He enjoyed bowling, stamp collecting, and doing word games and puzzles. In addition to his wife, Randall is survived by 3 daughters, Candace, wife of Troy Boyer of Ephrata, Christy Carpenter, wife of Michael Damario of Reamstown, Katy Carpenter, wife of Michael Hanson of Pearl River, NY; 7 grandchildren, Tasha, Alicia, Anthony, Isaiah, Natalie, Lucas and Joshua; a great granddaughter, Taniyah; and a brother, Ronald, wife of Carol Carpenter of NC. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 5, from 2 to 3 pm at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, followed by funeral services held at 3 pm, with Pastor Richard Cook officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Randall's memory may be made to Hospice and Community Care, formerly Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

Bio: Samuel Benjamin Carpenter, lovingly known as "Pappy Sam, Produce Man," passed away at age 88 in the comfort of his home on Sunday, December 28, 2014.  Born July 3, 1926, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Clinton Feather and Alice (Metz) Carpenter. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he received a State of Maryland Certificate of Appreciation for services rendered; an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and an American Theater Victory Medal.Samuel worked as an apprentice machinist for the Western Maryland Railroad from 1943 to 1944. He went on to retire from Fairchild Industries as a machinist after 15 years of service in 1989. He received a service recognition award for his great work ethic. Samuel earned his nickname by buying, selling and donating produce to people and businesses all over Hagerstown.He was a member of Calvary Temple Church in Williamsport, Md., as well as Morris Frock American Legion Post No. 42.Samuel is survived by four daughters, Rita D. Robinson, Marie C. Leonard, Norma J. Kirsch and Linda K. Yost; two sons, Sammy L. Carpenter and Timmy W. Bio: Nancy Jean Carpenter, of 13436 Resh Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed away at her home on May 1, 2008, from complications from a stroke on April 7. Born Dec. 1, 1936, in Williamsport, MD, she was the daughter of the late Milford George "Jim" Anderson Jr. and Ruth Anna Scott Anderson Whitman.She attended Williamsport High School until the 10th grade, when she quit school to help her mother raise her younger brothers and sisters after the death of her father. She also worked as a teenager at the Williamsport Silk Mill.She was a homemaker.She was a member of Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship and a past member of Broadfording Church of God. Nancy's entire family came to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior after she attended a crusade at the Hagerstown Fairgrounds in 1978. She then shared with them the message by Evangelist James Robinson.Over the years, Nancy enjoyed sewing, bird watching, baking, taking rides, watching skydiving, playing cards and spending time with close friends Gene and Evelyn O'Dell of Hagerstown.She is survived by her husband, Donald V. Carpenter, whom she married June 5, 1954 at the home of Rev. Petre on Broadfording Church Road; daughters, Donna J. Gossard and Penny S. Clark of Hagerstown, and Judy A. Hoffman of Clear Spring; sisters, Shirley Sharp of Port Orange, FL, Ava Mussolino of Hagerstown and Anita Saloom of Falling Waters, W.Va.; a brother, Charles Anderson of Hagerstown. She is also the stepdaughter of Glen C. Whitman of Williamsport. Six granddaughters, Amy Rowland of Sharpsburg, Jill Swope of Hagerstown, Beth Miller and Rebecca Hoffman of Clear Spring, and Rachel and Sarah Clark of Hagerstown; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.She was preceded in death by a brother, James Anderson, a granddaughter, three great-grandchildren and a nephew, Donald C. Barnes.Graveside service will be at Broadfording Memorial Gardens (Broadfording Church of God on Broadfording Road) at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, the Rev. Len Smith officiating.
