Death: Sep. 29, 2011 Clarksville Butler County Iowa, USA Lucille Elva Carpenter, 92, of Horton, Iowa, died on September 29, 2011 at the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville, Iowa. Lucille was born on July 19, 1919, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, the daughter of Claude W. and Elva (Dunlap) Edmonds. She attended school in rural Menomonie and graduated from high school in 1937. She was united in marriage to Ralph Carpenter on March 3, 1939, at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Menomonie. She was a full-time mother until their family was raised. She then worked at Wartburg College and also at the Bartels Home. The couple farmed for more than 30 years in the Horton area, retiring in 1970. They were Plainfield residents almost 30 years before moving to the Waverly Manor in 1999. After her husband's death in 2005, and due to poor health, she moved to the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville in 2010. Lucille accepted Jesus as her Savior at an early age. She was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Horton Baptist Church. Whenever the doors were open, the family was in attendance. Lucille had a very sweet spirit; she loved family and friends, making friends easily. She really enjoyed playing board games when the family would come home. Lucille is survived by her son, David (Patti) Carpenter of Crown Point, Indiana; four daughters, June (Dale) Siewert of Aberdeen, South Dakota; Janice (Gerald) Schindler of Marion, Iowa; Maxine (Ronald) Stewart of Athens, Georgia and Joyce (Paul) Oetken of Greenville, Michigan; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one sister, Lois Rassbach of Menomonie. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph, one brother, three sisters and one granddaughter, Arianna Oetken. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Horton Baptist Church, Horton. Burial will be held in the Horton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, Waverly. Memorials may be directed to the family. Laurene Dean (Barnett) Carpenter was born April 9, 1930 on the family farm near the Kibby community, south of Buffalo, Oklahoma, to James and Bertha Barnett. Laurene attended the Selman Schools. On October 21, 1948 Laurene and Lewis Carpenter were united in marriage at Perryton, Texas; and to this union 3 children were born a son Lewis, two daughters Connie and Linda. The family lived in the Selman Community for a time then they moved to Woodward Oklahoma and made their home until 1968 when the family moved to Buffalo, Oklahoma. Laurene was a home maker and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and work with crafts along with working in her garden. Laurene attended the United Methodist Church, of Buffalo, Oklahoma. Laurene went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 4, 2013 at her home. Laurene was preceded in death by her parents and husband Lewis October 31, 1996 and her sister Corene Huckaby March 4, 2004. Laurene leaves as her survivors her son Lewis & Brenda Carpenter of Buffalo, Oklahoma, two daughters Connie Hagen of Alva, Oklahoma, Linda & Larry Glennie of Woodward, Oklahoma, a sister Wanda Mounce of Dansville, Arkansas; Four Grandchildren, Rodney Dean Glennie and wife Cristy of Alva, Oklahoma, Curtis Glennie of Woodward, Chalon Carpenter Collier and husband Brian of Buffalo, Oklahoma, Gloria Skye Carpenter, of Waynoka, Oklahoma and 9 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Longtime Pawhuska resident Larry Oran Carpenter passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at his home. He was 64 years old.Larry was born May 13, 1950 in Woodward, Oklahoma, the son of Orvan and Vera Mae (Barnett) Carpenter.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Orvan Carpenter; sister-in-law, Sandy Carpenter; and a sister, Darla Carpenter.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 2, 10:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska. The Rev. James Hager will officiate. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.
McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
