Number 972 in the Carpenter Family in America book by Daniel H. Carpenter,
1901. Family on page 279 & 280.
Mr. Carpenter was all his life identified with the business interests of New
York and was a distinguished member of the Masonic Fraternity.
After he died in 1882 his family resided in New York City.NOTE: The birth dates for this and his brother Josiah have been switched in the CFIA book. The younger one (7 Oct 1829) died as a baby and the older one (11 Aug 1835) is the one who married Emelyn P. Russell and had children. I have made the correction in this record.
Emelyn was the daughter of Captain Abraham Russell of New Bedford, MA.
She is a literal descedant of Tristam Coffin of Nantucket, one of the
earliest and best historically (in 1900) known families of that island.
