3085. Albert Carpenter

Number 899 in the book "The Carpenter Family in America" by Daniel H.
Carpenter, 1901.  Family on page 270 to 271.

Albert was a dry goods merchant in Brooklyn and a member and officer in the
Sands Street Methodist Episcopal Church.  His health failing in 1839 he
purchased a farm at Plattekill, Ulster county and removed there.  After the
death of his wife Mary in 1859, he sold his farm and removed to Newburgh,
whrere he engaged in the grocery business.


Mary Haswell Coope

She was sister to David Coope, a well known crockery merchant of Fulton
Street, Brooklyn.


5777. Charles W. Carpenter

Carpenter, 1901.  No family listed.

Charles was an engineer of No. 338 West Twenty-first Street, died, on Tuesday,
from Bright's disease, at the age of sixty-three.  He was born in New York,
where he he lived for the last thirty years.  During most of his early life
he lived in Platekill, NY.  He leaves a widow and two brothers.  The funeral
will be held at 8 o'clock this evening at the house.  The burial will be at New
Hurley, at the convience of the family.  Dated 12 April 1898.

In the 1890s Lawrence and his wife resided on Grand Avenue, Newburgh.  He was
a merchant in the wholesale notion business.  Mrs. Mary Westlake Carpenter
provided the genealogy of this line back to number 402 in the above book.
This family line is closely identified with the Methodist Episcopal Church.
