EDWIN R. CARPENTER   Edwin R. Carpenter passed away at his home in New Haven May 3, after an illness of less than a week.   He was born August 12, 1826, his parents being Philo and Rhoda Carpenter. At the outbreak of the Civil war, Mr. Carpenter enlisted and was one of the first to go from his town to the front.   His widow survives together with three daughters, Mrs. Elbert Gilette of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Griff Swartwood of Boardman, Wis., and Mrs. Harold E. Bosworth of Sandy Creek and one son; John D. Carpenter of Wisconsin and one brother, Frank F Carpenter of Mexico.

Mary Elizabeth Huntington Gillett

 Mary Elizabeth Huntington was the daughter of Frederick Huntington 1790 and Mary Humphrey Witter.  Her family moved to Mexico, from Connecticut and Cortlandville, New York, there she married Ellery Cory Gillett, the son of Joel Gillett 1806 who had moved to Mexico from Otsego County, New York with his uncle C Marcus Gillett (also buried in this cemetery). Mary and Ellery were married on January 13, 1848.   

Ellery and Mary had three children: Addeline L 1852, Dora Alwida (Stephen) Kenyon 1856 (Wisconsin,California), and Mary E (Levy) Weideman 1863.  After Ellery Gillett died in the Civil War, she married Edwin R Carpenter in 1872.
