Peggy SherwoodBirkemeierThis was taken at 31 Cedar Place, Yonkers, NY in the home that John Franklin Sherwood built. The child is my father, Stanley A. SherwoodJr. This was taken in 1926 on the occasion of their 50th Anniversary.
SEE IMAGE: RIN 168446 John Sherwood with Mary & GS-1926.jpgThe J. Franklin Sherwood construction company was founded in the1850’s by John’s father, John Sherwood. Several other Sherwood relatives andCarpenter family names were all part of this company. John H. Carpenter and William H. Carpenter were uncles of Mary Jane.
I also have family photos of George Carpenter’s son, Wallace and hischildren: Ethel, Edna and Wallace Irving, as well as photos of MaryJane as a young woman.
SEE IMAGE: RIN 168400 Mary Jane Carpenter Sherwood.jpgI have not uploaded any family files yet. Still sorting outinformation, but plan to update a book I did for my siblings in 2003as a result of inheriting a huge box of family photos from the earlyto mid 1800’s.
I feel very attached to Mary Jane although she passed away yearsbefore I was born, but she left her mark in my mind, as did JohnFranklin Sherwood.
I look forward to exchanging more information if this is of interestto you. Best wishes, Peggy
