SABETHA -- Faye Bechtelheimer, 94, of Sabetha, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at a retirement home here.
She was born May 4, 1904, in Payne County, Okla., to George and Anna Neidert Carpenter. She moved to Sabetha with her parents in 1910 and graduated from Sabetha High School in 1921. She was a teacher for two years. She was a Sabetha Herald newspaper correspondent for the Rock Creek community near Sabetha and later for Apostolic Christian Village in Sabetha.
She was a member of Trinity Church of the Brethren in Sabetha and had been a member of the former Rock Creek Church of the Brethren near Sabetha. She was a member of the Sabetha Hospital Guild and Retired Teachers Association.
She married Harvey F. Bechtelheimer on April 25, 1923, in Sabetha. They owned and operated a dairy farm near Sabetha many years. They moved into Sabetha in January 1983. He died Sept. 22, 1987.
A daughter, Marjorie Jean Kesler, died Oct. 2, 1983. A granddaughter, Lennis Petr, died Jan. 28, 1999.
Survivors include sons, Daryl Bechtelheimer, Sabetha, and Paul Bechtelheimer, Gardner; a brother, Kenneth Carpenter, Sabetha; a sister, Ina McClain, Sabetha; 11 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Church of the Brethren in Sabetha.
Burial will be in Sabetha Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Church of the Brethren or the Apostolic Christian Home, both in Sabetha.
