Bio:
William Keays Bass Sr., "Bill"William Keays Bass Sr., "Bill," 83, passed Monday, December 17th, 2012 in Florida. He was born July 9, 1929 in Norfolk, Virginia to Muriel Carpenter Bass and Louis Tulane Bass.

The child of dual military officers, his formative years were spent in Utah, California, and New Mexico.

The Bass family settled in San Antonio, Texas where Bill attended Texas Military Academy for high school.

Following the tragic deaths of both his father and brother in the Pacific during World War II, Bill and his mother relocated to Mariana, Florida his senior year. He attended Florida State University where he was an avid member of the FSU community. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, a founding member and disk jockey of the university's first radio station, WFSU, and served as Ring Master of the FSU Flying High Circus. He graduated with a BBA in 1952 and began work in the Coca-Cola Company's Fountain Sales Department.

In 1952, Bill married June Cason Bass and they were relocated to Atlanta in 1953. There, he was assigned to the newly formed Public Relations Department. During his Atlanta days, Bill was president of the Atlanta Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and The Atlanta Braves 400 Club. In 1982, Bill was transferred to Orlando, Florida to oversee the Disney World Coca-Cola Pavilion.

He founded the Orlando Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and was president of the Lake Buena Vista Rotary Club. After retiring from Coke in 1986, Bill managed the Public Relations Department for the Florida Sheriff Youth Ranches until he and June moved to Mt. Dora, Florida. They were members of the Saint Edward's Episcopal Church in Mt. Dora, Florida where Bill served as lay leader for many years. Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, June Cason Bass, daughter, Patti Bass Pensula, and son, William Keays Bass Jr., daughter-in-law, Dr. Nina Bass, grandchildren, Charlotte Bass Gardner and husband, Nathan, William Keays Bass III and wife, Nikki, Kelly Pensula Mahler and husband, Justin, and Jessica Pensula Romano and husband, Danny, and Tatum Tulane Bass, and great-grandchildren, Leila Mahler, Guy Gardner, Grier Gardner and Grayson Gardner.

A memorial service will be held at the Parish Church of St. Helena in Beaufort, SC on Saturday December 22nd, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saint Edward's Episcopal Church in Mt. Dora Florida.
