Mary Ruby Jersey
JERSEY, Mary Ruby - Age 84 of Roseburg, died in her sleep at home on August 10, 2000. She was born on August 25, 1915 in Webster County, Missouri to James and Mary Jane (Armstrong) Carpenter.
Ruby spent 40 years in Marshfield and Seymour, Missouri. She worked for the Marshfield Telephone Company.
On July 15, 1935 in Marshfield she married Arnold E. Clark who preceded her in death.
She has many friends there that she has kept in touch with over the years.
Ruby moved to Oakland, California in 1954 where she met Floyd L. Jersey. On September 26, 1959 in Reno, Nevada they were married. Floyd preceded her in death on November 4, 1983.
They had 25 wonderful years together before his death.
She worked as the switchboard operator for Smith-Corona-Marchant for nearly 20 years. Ruby then became the switchboard operator for the University of California School of Business, a job she truly enjoyed until her retirement in 1979.
She is survived by her daughter Arna Lewis and her husband Dick of Roseburg and their children, Mary Jane of Alexandria, VA and Rick of Corvallis, OR, daughter, Janice Terry and her husband Jim of Anacortes, WA and their children Cinde, Mike, Ginny and Nina and their families, daughter Edite Edor and her husband Otto of Concord, CA and their daughter Taimi and her family.
Ruby was loved by many and grandma to all. Private cremation rites have been held. Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held on Ruby's 85th birthday, Friday, August 25, 2000 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Roseburg, OR.
Her family would enjoy a warm and funny story of your experiences with Ruby.
