Bio:
Paul W. Carpenter, 88, of Linton passed away Monday December 18 at Sullivan Co. Community Hospital. Born May 29th, 1918, in Gray, Okalahoma, he was the son of Perry and Nettie (Eaton) Carpenter.
He married Lurene Fulk Nov. 14, 1946.
Paul was a WW II Veteran of the US Army, where he earned the American Defence and Theater Ribbons, and Good Conduct and Victory medals.
He worked at NWSC Crane in the Electronic Mechanics and Gun Mount division until retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Lurene, two sons: Mark D. (Sandy) Carpenter of Linton and David C. (Kambi) Carpenter of Sullivan; and six grandchildren: Joshua Paul Hudson, Bryce, Elizabeth "Izzy", and Chase Carpenter, and Ian and Ashton Alsman.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Madge Young and Helen Rowe; four brothers: Gail, Leon, Frank, and Irvin Carpenter and a stillborn infant granddaughter, Brandi Sue Carpenter.
Friends may call fro 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 20th at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service on Thursday, December 21st at the Fellowship Baptist Church.
The service will be Thursday, December 21st at 2:00 PM at the Fellowship Baptist Church with officiants Rev. Warren Allen and Dr. Dean Hartman.
Burial and Military Graveside Rites will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Eathel Waneeta (Killian) Carpenter, 91, of Bloomfield, passed away at 2:34 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001 at the Lyons Health & Living Center. Born Oct. 11, 1910, in Newberry, she was the daughter of Edgar P. and Ada (Johnson) Killian. She was a homemaker, and attended Community Bible Church in Linton.
Survivors include three daughters, Luella Carpenter and Deloris Cundiff of Bloomfield, and Wilma Dunn of Greenfield; one son, Kenneth Carpenter Jr. of Bloomfield; one sister, Ruth Goad of Bloomfield; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Carpenter Sr. in 1978; two sisters, Eula Coy and Ennis Giles; three brothers, Phillip, Emil, and Alston Killian; one son, Delbert Carpenter; one daughter, Mary Janet Snyder; one grandson, Delbert Carpenter Jr.; and her parents. Funeral services will be at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield at 2 p.m. on Friday with the Revs. Jim Dunn and John Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel.

Luella F. Carpenter, 86, of Bloomfield passed away Sunday January 24, 2016 at Garden Villa in Bloomington.

Born November 17, 1929 in Newberry, Indiana the daughter of Kenneth W. Carpenter, Sr. and Eathel W. (Killian) Carpenter.

Luella worked for Orval Hunter Law office and Hartman and Paddock Law office in Bloomfield, she was retired.

Luella is survived by a brother Kenneth Carpenter of Bloomfield, two sisters Deloris Carpenter Cundiff of Bloomfield and Wilma Mae (John) Dunn of Greenfield, Indiana, niece Amy (Mike) Shorter of Lillington, North Carolina and April (Marc) Ranard of Friendswood, Texas and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister Mary Janet Snyder, one brother Delbert Lee Carpenter, a sister-in-law Evelyn J. (Love) Carpenter, a great niece Brooklin Shorter and her parents.

Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. Thursday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev Jeff Rockey officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Lyons.

Nina Barker, 96, of Odon, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Ketcham Memorial Nursing Center in Odon. Born April 1, 1912, in Greene County, she was the daughter of William Bid and Cora (McFarren) Carpenter.

A homemaker, she attended Mt. Nebo Church and Pleasant Hill Church. She was a 13-year volunteer at Ketcham Memorial Center.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Jean DeVine of Odon and Joyce and Donald Pergal of Indianapolis; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Ruth Barker and Steve and Janice Barker, all of Newberry; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Hasler and Marcella Sakalauski, both of Odon; and brother, Wendell Carpenter of Bloomfield.

Her husband, John H. Barker Sr., preceded her in death in 1984. Two sisters, Vernal Twombly and Vivian Barker; four brothers, Kenneth, Leroy, Cletus and Loveall "Johnny" Carpenter; and two grandsons are also deceased.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home in Odon with Rev. Bob Duley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.

Emma Carpenter, 100, of Gifford passed away Thursday evening (Nov. 7, 2019) at Country Health Care and Rehab, Gifford.

She was born April 4, 1919, in Gifford, a daughter of Heiko and Grace (Miller) Kuhlman. She married LeRoy Chester “Cotton” Carpenter on April 10, 1943, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Gifford. He preceded her in death in February 1995.

She is survived by three children, Ron (Pat) Carpenter of Laguna Woods, California, Shirley LaBounty of Gifford and Connie (Paul) Severins of Gifford; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by six sisters, a brother, three grandchildren and a son-in-law.

Emma was a lifelong member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church. She owned and operated the Gifford Pool Hall for many years and worked as a cook at the Oasis in Penfield until she was 86! She was an avid Cubs fan and truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wendell Eugene Carpenter, Sr., 91, of Newberry passed away January 23, 2012 at Glenburn Home in Linton.

Born on November 21, 1920 in Newberry, Indiana he was the son of William and Cora (McFarren) Carpenter.

Surviving relatives include one son Wendell Eugene (Donna) Carpenter, Jr. of Newberry; two step-sons Randy Kindred of Bloomfield and Ross (Marilyn) Kindred of Bloomfield; two step-daughters Rita (Jim) Knight of Hymera and Renetta (Floyd) Budd of Farmersburg; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Paul) Rifner of Newberry, Tim Carpenter of Newberry and Tammy Walls of Owensburg; four great-grandchildren, Lindsay Rifner of Newberry, Eli Carpenter and Samantha Carpenter of Newberry, and Alexis Walls of Owensburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Mary (Lester) Carpenter on August 6, 1987 and Katherine (Martindale) Carpenter on January 26, 2009; one daughter June Aileen Powell; one great-grandson Jarad Rifner; four brothers, Kenneth Carpenter, Cletus Carpenter, Lovel Carpenter and Leroy Carpenter; five sisters, Vernal Twobly, Vivian Barker, Nina Barker, Marscella Sakalauski and Pauline Hasler.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Jeff Williams officiating.  Interment will follow in Prairie Chapel cemetery near Lyons.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Katherine went to be with her Lord on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at 9:50 p.m. at her residence on Rt 1 Bloomfield. She was 83 years, 10 months and 6 days old.

Born March 20, 1925 in Bloomfield, she was the daughter of Frank Lester and Bessie Belle Blaker Martindale.

She married Wilbert Kindred on February 12, 1943 and to this union were born Randy Dean, Rita Dianna, Ross Dwight, Renetta Darlene, Marsha Jean and Michael Darwin.

Her husband was killed in a tractor accident 13 years. After his death she married Wendell Carpenter on June 28, 1988. She was a homemaker and had worked at the Bloomfield Woolen Mill and Crane Naval Center. Katherine and Wendell were very active and committed to the Trinity Gospel Church in Washington. They enjoyed many activities with their church and attended regularly until her failing health prevented this association. She enjoyed her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Katherine had extended health problems for a number of years but continued to believe her Lord was still on the throne. After many hospital stays she was anxious to come home and with continuous help of her children, family and health care people she was able to stay home until the time of her passing.

She is survived by her husband, Wendell, and her children: Randy, Ross (Marilyn) and Renetta (Floyd) Budd all of Bloomfield and Rita (Jim) Knight of Hymera and Marsha Grenat of Lafayette. Also sisters Linda Lou (Don) Green and Ruby Anderson of Bloomfield and sister-in-law Sandra Martindale of Bedford, brothers Herbert (Mildred) Martindale of Solsberry and Jim Martindale of Bloomfield. Also step children June Powell and Eugene (Donna) Carpenter. Her grandchildren Terri Windhorst of Greenwood, Carri Quakenbush of Bloomfield, Ron Kindred of Linton, Renee Pool and J. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday January 31, 2009 at the Southside Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Jonathan Meenach officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.
