Death: 11 Apr 1982 (aged 93) USA
Burial: Big Meadows Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Newland, Avery County, North Carolina, USA
Memorial #: 54200110
Bio:
Her gnarled little hands bespoke of spinning
and carding wool; of pulling galax and
digging roots to help clothe the 8 sons she
bore at home with only a midwife to alleviate
the birth pangs.
Aunt Tempie Louisy Carpenter Ingram grew
up in an era when times were hard, but she
didn't complain; they raised every morsel of
food for the table and " lived good " she said.
Aunt Tempie lived her final years with her
son Jerry Ingram and his family in a log cabin
on Buck Hill ( In the 3 mile section ) that is
over a hundred years old.
Aunt Tempie was born at the head of Clear
Creek to Will and Julie Carpenter. She
married Bard Ingram when she was 20
years old and bore him 8 sons, Ralph,
Bert, Arnold, Jason, Ray, Jerry, and a set
of twin boys who died in infancy.
She loved to make quilts until her eyes
became to dim but was able to read her
large print Bible. When asked what she
considered the most important thing that
ever happened in her lifetime she replied
softly, " Trusting in the Lord "

Until We Meet Again

Those special memories of you
will always bring a smile
if only I could have you back
for just a little while
Then we could sit and talk again
just like we used to do
you always meant so very much
and always will too
The fact that you're no longer here
will always cause me pain
but you're forever in my heart
until we meet again

I Love You Mom

Dear Mom:
I thought about you today,
but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday,
and days before that too,
I think of you in silence,
I often speak your name,
all I have are memories and
a picture in a frame,
your memory is a keepsake,
from which I’ll never part.
God has you in his arms,
I have you in my heart

A son remembers his father's words,
His wisdom and his wit.
There's never a day that ever goes by,
When the son doesn't find a use for it.

And this is how the father lives on
Inside the heart of his son.
Although they were parted years ago
In this way the two live as one.

I Love You Dad....

James

Burial: Big Meadows Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Newland, Avery County, North Carolina, USA
Memorial #: 54199823
Bio:
I have some of the fondest memories of Herm and Zonie as I was growing up. My family traveled from Burke County to Avery county almost every weekend to visit kin folks. I always hated that trip up the mountain on old 181 because of the curves and switch backs in the road. I almost always got car sick and had to stop at Clarks old store for a pickle to settle my stomach. When we arrived at aunt Zonie's...everything was great...She had a big hug and most of the time had a plate of left overs sitting on the table covered up with a table cloth. I don't know if I every told these two wonderful people that I loved them....But if you guys can hear me now......I LOVE YOU............James L Simmons
