The Seventh Presbyterian Church of Jesus Christ was organized on March 27, 1818, by Rev. Elihu V. Baldwin, D. D., in the home of William Badoe, and the first house of worship was located on Sheriff Street, near Broome. In 1842, a new church was built, as designed by Napoleon Le Brun. For more than twenty years the church was known as "Dr. Hatfield's Church," due to the pastorate of the Rev. Edwin F. Hatfield, D.D., who led the congregation from 1835 until he resigned in February 1856 to become pastor of the North Presbyterian Church. For many years, Seventh Presbyterian Church had the largest Sunday school in the United States. On February 4, 1934, the Seventh Presbyterian Church had its last service, after which it merged into the Church of the Sea and Land on Market and Henry Streets.  ...

E-MAIL:  Subject:   Melissa Angeline Carpenter
Date:    Fri, 3 Aug 2001
From:   Jim Taylor       JTa3252718@aol.com
Hi John,
Latting and Augusta Carpenter's daughter Melissa seems a close match.
My Melissa Angeline Carpenter was born in Mongaup, Sullivan County, New York.
She was married in the Methodist Church at Pond Eddy, New York.  I don't
know how close these locations are to Musketa Cove, Queen, LI. NY.
Melissa and James Forbes Taylor had the following children:
Joseph Levi Taylor (my grandfather) August 04, 1872 - February 25,1940

Carrie Doty Taylor     November 20, 1874-November
24, 1919

Edwin Hurst Taylor    July 26, 1877-May 09, 1941
Jenny Taylor           March 06, 1884-August 07, 1885
Willard James Taylor  April 05, 1887-???
The children were born in Hugeonaut, New York and Port Jervis, New York
This is all the additional information that I have about Melissa Angeline
Carpenter Taylor.
Jim Taylor of Warren, Ohio

4542. Sarah S. Carpenter

Number 1347 in the Daniel H. Carpenter book, 1901.
From her memorial stone: Died aged 3 years, 9 months 15 days.
This calculates out to be 27 Sep. 1854.

4543. Charles S. Carpenter

Number 1350 in the Daniel H. Carpenter book, 1901.
Tombstone indicates he died age 13.

Hattie Haff

She was alive in Sayville in 1900.

4544. John S. Carpenter

Number 1348 in the Daniel H. Carpenter book, 1901.
He was born after the Latting's first wife died, thus he should belong to the
second wife.  However, based on tombstone info, he died age 35 days, this makes
his birth 6 Jul 1859.  This makes things interesting, since he may have been
conceived before Latting's first wife was deceased.  Of course errors in
transcription could be the reason also.

4545. Jennie Carpenter

Number 1351 in the Daniel H. Carpenter book, 1901.
She was a teacher at Sayville in 1893, and was alive in 1900.

4546. Sarah L. Carpenter

Tombstone indicates she died age 6 months.
