The line I thought could be Willis' is Bailey Carpenter born in 1765 in Rowan Co. NC and died c1830-1840 in Burke Co. GA. In 2007 I found a descendant in GA, Jim Carpenter, who was interested, and bought him a test kit but he died of a heart attack on a business trip before he used the kit. I tried to reach his brother and sister but couldn't find contact information for them. I hoped to appeal to them to finish what their brother had started and was very interested in doing for their family. I am always on the lookout for a descendant of Bailey Carpenter but have not found another one, although there have to be some out there -- he had at least 6 known sons born between 1783 and 1796. They just don't seem to be interested in their ancestry.
Jim's family is listed in his obituary as daughter Brandy Steele (husband Jason) of Macon GA and sons Jimmy Carpenter of Dawsonville and Taylor Carpenter of Cumming; sister Sharon Lail (husband Dean) of Macon; brother Mike Carpenter (wife Jan) of Cohutta, GA -- see . I did a quick search for contact information this morning but didn't find anything for them. If you can find them and talk them into following through on the test, it would give us a new line to compare to. Terry
