Bobby Joe Carpenter Sr., age 86, of Bauxite, Arkansas, passed away January 14, 2018. He was born on June 08, 1931 in Point Cedar, the son of Charles and Ella Carpenter.He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Helen Carpenter; his father Charles, birth mother Ella who passed when Bobby was two, and mother Minnie Carpenter; son Steven Corey Carpenter, grandson Alex Carpenter; and siblings Carmen, Clarice, Ruth, Louise, Pauline, and David.
Bobby proudly served his country with the United States Army, a Korean War Veteran, and honored recipient of the Purple Heart for his valor. He retired after many years as a newspaper pressman. He was of the Christian faith.
Left to cherish his memory is daughter, two sons, two sisters, thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and two on the way.
Bobbys celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.
Interment will be at Crestview Cemetery immediately following service.

She is survived by her husband, Bobbie Carpenter of Ocala, Florida; her daughter, Beverley Henry (Thomas) of Bauxite, Arkansas; her two sons, Joey Carpenter (Rhonda) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Scott Carpenter (Toni) of Ocala, Florida; her twelve grandchildren; and her seventeen great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 21, at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Interment will be held in Crestview Cemetery, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday evening at the funeral home. Helen Joyce Bibb Carpenter, age 78, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Hot Springs, Arkansas, peacefully entered eternal rest on February 12, 2011, while surrounded by her family. Helen was born on February 3, 1933, to Edward Bibb, Sr. and Thelma Breaux Bibb. In 1951, she married her "Babe", Bobbie Joe Carpenter, and together they welcomed one daughter, Beverley, and three sons, Joey, Corey and Scott. Helen worked for many years at Wal-Mart, store 52, where she at one time earned the title "Miss Wal-Mart", and made many life-long friends. After her retirement in 1995, she gained immense joy from spending time with her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and friends. She spent most of her time at ballgames and dance recitals. Helen loved life, loved her family and most of all she loved hearing her sweet "Babe" sing to her and praising her Lord, Jesus Christ. She attended Bismarck Pentecostal Church and was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hot Springs.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Steven Corey Carpenter; her grandson, Alex Carpenter; and her brother, Donnie Bibb.
She is survived by her adoring "Babe" of 60 years, Bobbie Carpenter of Ocala, Florida; her daughter, Beverley Henry (Thomas) of Bauxite, Arkansas; her two sons, Joey Carpenter (Rhonda) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Scott Carpenter (Toni) of Ocala, Florida; her twelve grandchildren, who knew her as "Nana", Carrie Robertson ( Don) of Benton, Arkansas, Valarie Wasson (Kurt) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Joyce Fugate (Craig) of Russellville, Arkansas, James Carpenter (Chandra) of Austin, Texas, Chris Reynolds and Jon Paul Carpenter (Jessie), all of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Ryan Norman (Tyffany) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Stephanie Fry of New Brainard, Minnesota, Jennifer Fry of Little Rock, Arkansas, Tyler Carpenter, Cori Carpenter and Keyvius Sampson, all of Ocala, Florida; her seventeen great-grandchildren, Adrian, Keaton, Jordan, Hannah, Abby and Lauren Fugate, Korey and Kannyn Wasson, Aubree and Chelsea Robertson, Zoe and Stella Carpenter, Ocean Reynolds, Lennon, Jonah and Lily Norman, and Cameron Carpenter; her brother, Sonny Bibb of Little Rock, Arkansas; her sisters, Betty Smith and Bonnie Hyatt, both of Hot Springs, Arkansas; her four special canine friends, Sebastian, Marley, Rudy and Chloe; nieces, nephews and host of friends.
Services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 21, at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Bro. Joe Harvey and Bro. Van Glidewell officiating.
Interment will be held in Crestview Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Sunday evening.
The family will gather at 109 Gabor in Hot Springs.
Pallbearers will be Helen's grandsons.
