Nollie Odell Carpenter, 89, died at his home on May 20, 2014. He was a native and resident of the "Carpenter Settlement", Millry, AL. Nollie was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Millry, AL. He served in the US Army for nine years and retired from the US Air Force, as a SR. Master SGT, after eleven years of service. Nollie worked in the instrumentation department at the "old" Geigy. He loved to fish, hunt and plant a vegetable garden. His grandchildren and great grandchildren called him "Granddaddy". Survivors include: Wife of 62 years, Elisabeth Elfriede Zachhuber Carpenter, Millry, AL; Two sons, Heinz Peter Carpenter, Millry, AL; Dean Mark Carpenter, Millry, AL; Daughter, Donna Rae (Ricky) Carpenter Bickerstaff, Ashland, AL; Two Brothers, Sammie Gray ( Mary Lynn) Carpenter, Millry, AL.; Jerry Coy (Mildred) Carpenter, Millry, AL. Three Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents; Jerry Miah Carpenter and Mary Ann Henson Carpenter; One Brother, Andrew (Andy) Jackson Carpenter. Services will be Thursday, May 22, 2014 Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Visitation from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM with full Miltary Honors. Interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Revs. Ernest Tucker & Ron Pierce will be officiating with St. Stephens Funeral Home directing.
