Although blood line, a true Carpenter descendant, capable of bearing
that surname, her father was raised as a Barker and adopted that surname.

Bonnie Banker Carpenter July 27, 1937 - October 12, 2021 Coronado, CA
Bonnie Banker Carpenter was born in Oakland, California on July 27, 1937 to Franklyn J. Banker and Grace L. Banker of Piedmont, California. She grew up in Piedmont and was a Camp Fire Girl earring the rank of Indian Princess. After graduating from high school, where she was student-body vice-president, Bonnie matriculated at Stephens College in Missouri and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where she majored in speech and drama and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
Bonnie died at Sharp Coronado Hospital on October 12, 2021, with husband and children present. Her death was the result of respiratory failure. Her ashes will be interred in Mountain View Cemetery, Oakland, California, along with her parents and grandmother.
Bonnie was a preschool and kindergarten teacher, and a flight attendant with World Airways before marrying her husband Charles L. Carpenter (AKA: Skip) in 1962.
She was the owner of California Cornucopia, a company specializing in international cultural and cuisine presentation for conventions and spousal programs; additionally, she was a national and international tour guide. She was also a tea room and department store model, and appeared on the cover of Parade Magazine.
Bonnie and her family moved to Coronado in the fall of 1977. Her Coronado community involvement included: President, Coronado Youth Soccer Program; Mrs. Claus at numerous community events; President, California Children's Home Society, Coronado auxiliary; Chances for Children; Inter Study International Youth Program; Rotary International; Coronado Yacht Club; Treasurer, Coronado Crown Club.
Organizational memberships also included: San Diego Port Authority, Cruise Advisory Committee; Assistance League of San Diego; Chane des Rtisseurs, an International Gastronomic Society; Socit Mondiale du Vin, an International Wine Society; American Institute of Wine & Food; San Diego Hotel Sales & Marketing Association; San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau; awarded 1985 CONVIS Perfect Host award.
Bonnie was a seasoned traveler having visited some 100 countries; in 1983 she took 20 Coronado youths camping throughout Europe. She also enjoyed horseback riding and cross country skiing.
She is survived by her husband, three children, six grandchildren, and brother.
