Eloise Katherine Carpenter, 71, of Ottumwa died March 4 at an Ottumwa hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Methodist Church of Ottumwa, with the Rev. Charles Rinkel Jr. officiating.
Pallbearers were Boyd Fuller, Robert A. Sudan II, Keith Fuller, Michael Carpenter, Arthur Fuller, Benjamin Fuller, Harold S. Carpenter and J. David Carpenter III. Honorary bearers were Leighton B. Smith. O.A. Clark, William Trenemann, John Logan, Walter Krambeck and Harold E. Carpenter.
Burial was at Ottumwa Cemetery.
Memorials in Mrs. Carpenter's name were made to her church and Ottumwa Hospice.
She was born Dec 21, 1911, near Iowa Falls, the daughter of Arthur B. and Mary Starr Fuller. She graduated from Ellsworth College at Iowa Falls and taught in the consolidated schools of Liscomb and State Center.
On June 16, 1938, she was married to J. David Carpenter at Iowa Falls.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Ottumwa, P.E.O. Chapter H.R., the Ottumwa Hospital Auxiliary, and a life member of the Wapello County Historical Society. She served as present of the Ottumwa Women's Club, the In His Name Circle of King's Daughters, and the New Century Book Club.
She had also served as Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include one son, J. David Jr. of Ottumwa; three daughters, Kay Doyle of Ottumwa, Constance Soudan of Winnetka, Ill., and Jane West of Waukegan, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and one brother, Louis Fuller of Grinnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Funeral Services for Warren Carpenter, 73, of Brooklyn, were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, in the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn.
Rev. Raymond D. Moore, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery, Brooklyn.
The Nevenhoven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Warren Eugene Carpenter, son of Forrest Dean Carpenter and Pearl Fredricka Roudabush Carpenter, was born March 15, 1914, in Malcom, Iowa, and died Thursday, July 16, 1987, in the Brookhaven Nursing Home, Brooklyn.
Mr. Carpenter received his education in Brooklyn graduating from high school in 1932. He served with the US Army during World War II. In 1940 he became the owner and operator of Carpenter Feed & Seed in Brooklyn retiring in 1973.
Mr. Carpenter was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie Messer on March 6, 1938, in Brooklyn.
Mr. Carpenter was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; one son, Earl Eugene, and his wife, Arlene, of Barrington, Ill.; two daughters, Kathleen Kay, and her husband, George L. Schueppert of Barrington, Ill., and Carol Fae, and her husband, Dr. Randall Hanson, of Waukee, Iowa; two brothers, Dean of Coralville, Iowa, and Merrill, of Canon City, Colorado; and eight grandchildren.

Dean Fred Carpenter, 82, of 601 Sixth Ave., died Sunday, July 26, 1998, in Lantern Park Rehabilitation & Care Center following a brief illness. Family graveside services: Thursday, Memory Gardens, Iowa City. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lensing's Oak Hill Chapel, Coralville.
Survivors include his wife, Verna; two daughters, Ruth Ann Carpenter and Deana Paulette Ferras, both of San Francisco; two sons, Kevin Cordes Carpenter of San Francisco and Theodore Fred Carpenter and wife Kay Marie of Coralville; a brother, Merrill and wife, Evelyn of Denver, Colo.; and a granddaughter, Carrie Ann Carpenter of Rock Island, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Warren.
Dean was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Malcom, the son of Forrest D. and Pearl Roudabush Carpenter. He graduated from Brooklyn, Iowa, High School in 1934. He moved to Coralville in 1940. Dean married Verna Cordes on Jan. 2, 1942, in Coralville. From 1942 to 1963, he managed Superior Oil & Gas Station in Coralville. In 1963, he and Verna opened Coral Fruit Market, which they owned until 1978. He continued to work there until retiring in 1988. Dean was a member of the Coralville United Methodist Church and Coralville Morning Optimist Club.

Her family includes two daughters, Ruth Ann Carpenter and Paulette Ferras, both of San Francisco; two sons, Keven Carpenter of San Fransisco and Ted and wife Kay Carpetner of Coralville; and a graddaughter Carrie Carpenter of Rock Island, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Ted Cordes.
Verna was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Limon, Colo., the daughter of Theodore Carl and Ruth Cornelia (Smith) Cordes. She grew up in Ulysses, Neb. Verna's family moved to the Iowa City area in 1938. She married Dean Carpenter on Jan. 2, 1942. She and her husband have resided in Coralville since then. They owned and operated Coral Fruit Market from 1963 to 1978. Dean died July 26, 1998.
She was a member of the Coralville United Methodist Church.

Jessie Evelyn Waits Carpenter, 100, of Loveland, formerly of Canon City, Colorado, passed away October 15, 2015, 15 days shy of her 101st birthday.Evelyn was born to Robert Reason and Jessie Waits October 30, 1914, in Atchison County (Fairfax) Missouri. She was raised on a farm and rode a horse to school for 11 of the 12 years. Evelyn graduated from Irish Gove Consolidated High School (Fairfax) in 1932. After finishing high school, she took secretarial training in Lincoln, Nebraska and worked for the State Department of Vocational Education at the State Capitol before moving to Denver, Colorado. She was working for Caterpillar Tractor Company when she met Merrill Carpenter, who was from Iowa and in the Air Force stationed at Lowry Air Force Base.
Evelyn married Merrill Raymond Carpenter January 30, 1947, in Denver, Colorado. They had three children, Merrillyn Mae, Roger Wayne, and Rhonda Sue. Merrill served in the Air Force and they lived in various areas, including Colorado, Missouri, Germany, France, and California. After Merrill’s retirement from the Air Force, they settled in Aurora. Following her retirement from the University of Colorado School of Nursing and Merrill’s retirement from the U.S. Mint, they moved to Canon City, Colorado, where they had their fondest memories. They were active in the United Presbyterian Church, bowled on two Senior Bowling Leagues, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and at the Chamber of Commerce Tourist Cabins during summer months. They also enjoyed gardening and their animals. Sometime after Merrill’s death, Evelyn moved to Loveland, Colorado to be closer to her daughter. She spent the last six years of her life at Good Samaritan Society, Loveland Village, where she enjoyed the staff, her neighbors, the music, and the various activities.
Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, and two grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Lewis Waits and Melford Waits), her husband Merrill and her son Roger.
Graveside Services for Evelyn will be held Thursday, October 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
