Helen Louise Carpenter, 84, of Champaign, passed away at 2:40 A.M. on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 South Philo Road, Urbana, Ill. , is in charge of arrangements.
Helen was born on May 26, 1931 in Paris, Illinois to parents James B. and Esther (Gleckler) Dively. On September 1, 1956 she married William O. Carpenter in Champaign, he survives. Also surviving is their son Mark Carpenter and his partner Jim Oberlies of Naples, FL., her sister Kathryn Seaman, and brothers Steve, Mike and Tim Dively. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jim, Paul and John Dively and her sister Margaret Davis.
Helen attended Paris Public Schools and University High School in Urbana. After attending Business College she had a successful 35 year career at Super Valu JM Jones where she met Rob Redden, whom she considered her adopted son.
She was a founding member and president of the JM Jones Federal Credit Union with her dear friend Lillian Baker. She was given an effective chapter award for her work there, recognized by the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation for her philanthropic work and received a Human Rights Award from Bahai Communities of Champaign County for the promotion of civil rights. Helen was also a member of Eastern Star and American Business Women’s Association.
Helen loved her family and friends and is going to be missed by everyone who was blessed enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to the Champaign County Humane Society.

HUMBOLDT -- Max L. Carpenter, 76 of Humboldt, IL passed away at 7:55 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2005 at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m Monday, October 31, 2005 at the Edwards Funeral Home 221 E. Main St., Arcola, IL. Rev. Joe Diener will officiate. Burial with military rites conducted by the Mattoon VFW post 4325 will be in the Humboldt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2005 at the funeral home. Max was born December 9, 1928 in Humboldt, IL. He was a son of Donald Mann and Maude (Swisher) Carpenter. He married Virginia Etnire on August 19, 1949 in Cornith, MS. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Carpenter of Charleston, IL; two sons, Darrell Carpenter and his wife Teresa of Arcola, IL and Bill Carpenter and his wife Terri of Carlinville, IL; two grandsons, Jason Carpenter and wife Janice of Effingham, IL and Matthew Carpenter and his wife Megan of Tuscola, IL; one granddaughter, Hannah Carpenter of Carlinville, IL; one sister Norma Lichtenberger of Bloomington, IN; three half brothers Dennis, Don and Fred Carpenter all of Springfield, IL and one half sister Donna Gregory of Sullivan, IL. His parents, one sister Betty Cobble and one half brother Jerald Carpenter preceded him in death. Max was a member of the Humboldt Christian Church and a member of the Moose in Mattoon. Max was an Army Veteran. He farmed in the Humboldt area his entire life and in1973 he was the Mayor of Humboldt. Subject: Update from my endJohn,
This is Michael Rennels. I had contacted you last year and we had communicated about me finding my father.
You had mentioned it could likely have been Donald Mann Carpenter that I may have been searching for. However, he didn’t live and die in the time frame I was searching for.
This last summer my wife and I traveled to the Mattoon, IL area and did some research. We went to Charleston and searched the microfilm of the Charleston Courier for the motorcycle accident through the years 1947-1952. No luck. I also went to Arcola and looked through their newspaper for the same period and still no luck.
I went to 3 county courthouse’s looking for any deaths of a Carpenter. Found none that matched. We checked funeral homes that were active around that time and none had any viable information. The funeral homes were very helpful in trying to find the information I needed.
I was able to meet my first cousins, Darrell and Bill (Max Carpenters boys, and it was nice to meet and talk to them but we couldn’t figure anything out. Donald Mann was their Grandfather.
Bottom line is I’m close but still no one knows anything. Bill sent me a picture of Donald Mann. He is not my dad. I’ll attach the picture.
I can’t recall if it was Pam Mcelory or Tiffani Moore. But one of them, their father was adopted and didn’t know anything about where he came from.
I looked in Illinois deaths but unfortunately public records stop at 1947.
I’m hopeful that I will find that motorcycle accident record somewhere.
I haven’t had any luck trying to find a public database of accidents with names attached.
Anyway just wanted to let you know the search is still going.

She is survived by two sons, Darrell Carpenter and his wife Teresa of Arcola, IL and Bill Carpenter and his wife Terri of Carlinville, IL; three grandchildren, Jason Carpenter and his wife Janice of Effingham, IL, Matthew Carpenter and his wife Heather of Humboldt, IL and Hannah Carpenter of Carbondale, IL; two great-grandchildren, Jada Carpenter and Logan Crist; two brothers, Gene Etnire and his wife Carolyn and Darry Etnire and his wife Joyce all of Charleston and two sisters, Wanda McNary and her husband Richard and Marjorie Conley all of Charleston, IL.

Ronald John Carpenter, son of Donald and Genevieve (Adams) Carpenter, was born September 6, 1947 in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up and received his education in Sioux Falls. Ronald then entered the Army serving four years in Vietnam, and then another two years in the Air Force.He returned to Sioux Falls and began his career with Northwestern Bell. On June 23, 1977 he was united marriage to Linda Buol in Sioux Falls. Before he retired at the age of 50, Ron worked with the phone company in Boise, ID.
Throughout his life, Ron had always valued family, being a loving husband and father, and especially taking care of his grand kids. He enjoyed riding his Harley, collecting coins, off road racing, and traveling all over the country in his motor home. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Linda, daughter, Chelsey Hanisch, sons, Jason, Chad and Sylvan, all of Sioux Falls, five grandchildren, brother, Rodney (Jane), of Sioux Falls, six sisters, Sandra Polzin, of Sioux Falls, Cheryl (Gary) Strang, Hartford, SD, Candis (James) Newman, Karla (Dave) Newman, Pamela (Bruce) McDowell, and Kim (Tom) Green, all of Sioux Falls.
His parents, brother Sylvan, sister, Deborah and son Ronald A. Carpenter, preceded him in death.

Pamela Lynne McDowell, a beautiful wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on November 9th of 2016, in her home in Sioux Falls, SD with her family at her side. She was 56.Pamela was born May 17th of 1960 in Sioux Falls, SD to Donald and Genevieve (Adams) Carpenter. She graduated from Washington High School in 1978. Following High School she worked at Citi-Bank, prior to becoming a home-maker. For three years she had also owned a business called "Scent by an Angel," where she preserved flowers and small animals. Her small business came to a close after her generosity was too large to handle.
On February 17th of 1979, Pamela became one with Bruce McDowell in Sioux Falls, SD at the First United Methodist Church. She then convinced her husband to purchase the brick fixer upper on 1013 West Fourth Street in 1985, where they had raised their three children.
Pamela was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church. Volunteer work was a huge passion in her life. She volunteered with the South Dakota Air National Guard family support group, Meals on Wheels, the Children's Home Society & the Children's Inn.
Along with her volunteer work, Pamela had many passionate hobbies. These included: Gardening, collecting antiques, collecting old books, creating holiday events for the children, taking photos of her children and flowers, restoring her home, discovering her ancestry, and creating many projects. Pamela was a very crafty soul, she could create a project out of anything and everything. Many of her projects yet to be finished will be done in honor of her.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Bruce; her sons, Dale (Amanda) and Bruce Jr. (Alyssa); her daughter, Miranda (Ben Dingus), Sioux Falls, SD; 4 grandchildren, Hayden, Ethan, Kalynne, and Watson; 5 sisters, Sandy Polzin, Candy Newman (Jim), Karla Newman (Dave), Kim Green (Tom), Sioux Falls, SD, Cheryl Strang (Gary), Hartford, SD; 1 brother, Rod Carpenter (Jane), San Jose, CA.
