NAME: Lillia or Delia G. later corrected by Eric Carlson to Aurelia G. Carpenter.
He wrote: Name could easily be Amelia G. Carpenter in 1860 census Appears to be Lilly G. Best in 1870 census
Carpenter CE 2001 identifies separately Lillia or Delia G. and Orilla.

Jerry Eugene Donovan (b. 1954) of Loveland, CO supplied updates to
this family from a record he copied in March of 1997 that is called
"History of the Carpenter Family as related by the late
Joseph James Carpenter."

James W. CARPENTER was born 23 Jan 1854 in a log cabin in Sombra Township,
Ontario. An only child of John CARPENTER and Harriet HENRY, James was raised
in the area of Sarnia, Ontario where his parents were married 17 Jan 1853.
Following the death of Harriet in 1855, John CARPENTER remarried to
Elizabeth Ann HENRY in 1862. James died 19 Jan 1907 at his farm home in
Ossineke Township, Alpena County, Michigan. The Diary of James W. CARPENTER
was produced by Donald W. CARPENTER and covers the years 1880 to 1907.
During the period of the diary, James lived in Sarnia, Ontario and Alpena
County. This hard cover book of 557 pages is indexed and contains maps,
pictures and illustrations and sells for $15.00 Those interested in this
