Married to Leander Peters, who enlisted in the Union Army in the Civil War and
was killed at the battle of Stone River at Murphysbury, TN. They had a son,
Wesley Peters who married Sophronia York. Nancy later married A. R. Lewallen
and had: John, Horace, Kingsly, Orlando, Hollis, Herman, Linnie, Annie, and
Lura Lewallan.

Witnesses to the wedding were Solomon Young, E. T. Stonecipher, and A. F.
Lewallen. Andrew was a Mason. He was active in politics and community affairs
He was known as Squire Lewallen during his politically active years. His name
is engraved on a plaque at the entrance of the Morgan Co. Courthouse. He was
chairman of the county court and member of the court house building committee.
Susannah Carpenter lived with Andrew and Nancy at the time of the 1880 census.

Isaac Nicholson, Trustee of Taylor Township, was born noar Scotland, in Daviess County, Ind., in 1850, and is a son of Levi N. and Rhoda (Carpenter) Nicholson. Levi N. Nicholson was a native of Greene County, Ind., and was here raised to manhood. He was a soldier in the Mexican war, a Republican, and an honored citizen of the county. Isaac obtained only a common school education, and when twenty years of age began doing for himself. For the past twelve years he has been working at blacksmithing, and is also serving his first term as Township Trustee. A. tie of votes resulted in he and his opponent "drawing numbers," and, fortunately for Mr. Nicholson, his was the number that entitled him to his office. He was married when twenty-four years of age to Miss Mary E. Akin, who died, leaving one daughter --Norah E. To his second marriage with Miss Margaret Hasler, three children have been born?Rebecca 3., Elpha M. and John R.

water boy in the Civil War. He had two brothers who disappeared during the war.
They were reported to be in prison. One settled in Oklahoma and had a boy
named George. Parents: Cyril Carpenter and Rhoda Cecil.

NOTES: John Consider (J. C. or Cid) Carpenter was born on 28 Jan 1850. He died
on 28 Jun 1915. He was buried in Tranquility United
Methodist Church Cemetery, County Road 220, McMinn County, TN. Cid Carpenter
was a teacher in the one-room schools of McMinn County in
his early years - about 1895-1905. He became active in public life and was an
ardent supporter of the Republican Party. He served as Justice of
the Peace for 18 years, county trustee for two terms, and as a legislator
representing McMinn County from 1910-1912. He was also devoted to
the Methodist Church, serving many official positions such as trustee and
financial director of the Trinity Methodist Church in Athens, TN from
1910-1913. Parents: Cyril Carpenter and Rhoda Cecil.
