The 17th Infantry Regiment was a Regiment organized in September, 1864; the unit was attached to Reserve Division, District of Harper’s Ferry, W. Va.-- later it was moved to Clarksburg, W. Va. which is a town that was a major town near Fairmont where the Maple Grove cemetery is located … the regiment was mustered out on 30 June 1865.
