MARRIAGE: 22 or 23 Sept. 1885.
DEATH: Obit notice in the Columbus Junction Newspaper entitled "Death Summons
Comes to Hon. C. A. Carpenter (who was a) Prominent Lawyer and Business Man
Succumbs after a Brief Illness And A Brilliant Career is Brought to AN Abrupt
Close." It starts; "The death of Hon. C. A. Carpenter, one of the most widely
known attorneys in southeastern Iowa occurred at his home on West Hill Sunday
afternoon at one o'clock following an illness dating from the middle of
August."  The article reprinted in full was in a "Carpenter Family Newsletter -
No. 49" produced by Alex Goloff, of East Peoria, IL, on 15 November 1996.
OCCUPATION: Per Helene Carpenter Ramos of Castro Valley, CA (letter dated 3
June 1999): An important piece of biographical information not mentioned in
this obituary excerpt is that C. A. Carpenter served a term as an Iowa
state senator in 1893-4 and was the youngest man ever elected to the Iowa
senate up to that time.

Albert Carpenter had an affair and produced a child.  Whether this is true
or not seems mute.  History is history from your point of view and this line
claims descent from Charles Albert Carpenter.
The main line of Carpenters denies this affair occurred and that this data should
not be included in this work.  I decided to include this line after much prayer
and concern to document everything.  I will let future researchers decide for
themselves.

Ken's Grandmother (Maiden Name: Mary Ann Carpenter)
and Aunt Julia.  I confirmed this with Mary Mason,
