Born October 21, 1893 in Cedar Run, he was the son of Mortimer and Carrie Spatts (obit spelled her name Spatts instead of Statts) Carpenter. A retired farmer, and a deacon for 30 years of the Middlebury Baptist Church. Survived by widow, Harriet Bodine Carpenter; a daughter, Mrs Charles Foster of Philadelphia; a son Ronald of Crooked Creek; 2 sisters, Mrs Mabel Collins of Wellsboro and Miss Ava Carpenter of Middlebury Center; 2 brothers, William of Tioga and Ray of Middlebury Ctr., and 5 gr-ch. Services were held on Monday and burial in Middlebury Union Cem.

He enlisted during the Civil War as a private for three months in Company D,
April 17, 1861 at Providence, RI and was mustered in on May 2, 1861 and was
wounded July 21, 1861 at the Battle of Bull Run and was taken to the hospital
at Washington. At the expiration of his enlistment he was discharged and
returned home. He then enlisted the second time as First Lieutenant in Company
D, 3rd Rhode Island heavy artillery at Providence, RI for three years. He died
of fever at Port Royal, South Carolina.BURIAL: no image

I am looking for any ancestor information on Albert Leslie Carpenter. The only information that I have is that he was born in the mid to late 1800's and was married to Minnie Lumas. They had a son, Leslie Carpenter, born 1900 in New Britton, CT. He is my great grandfather. Any information would be very helpful!
