Hobbies:
Sewing
Crafts
Bingo
BowlingGroups/clubs:
Bowling league (she was on two teams when she passed away)Notable things to remember about Norma:
Though Norma dedicated her life as a mother, wife, and homemaker she also volunteered her time as:
A 4-H leader for the youth in her area for over 12 years and many of those children had still kept in contact with her through the years
Helped her mother-in-Law in her flower shop business for many yearsNorma was a very giving person with her time, money, and resources. She was the kind of person that if you were in a difficult situation, she was the one you wanted in your corner. She would fight to the end to get you want you needed and the very beat available. She had a talent for getting things done the correct way to produce the best results possible. If there was red tape, she would find a way to cut through it. She was a motivator, a realist, and the one you always wanted on your side
Norma was also very nurturing (mothering). She would be the one to take care of a sick or injured family member. If someone in the family became sick with an illness that she knew nothing about she would research it and become an expert so she could help in any way possible. She was the first to step up to the plate to handle an unpleasant situation without being asked.
Family was always important to her and she loved babies. She gave many new parents a weekend off from parenthood through the years and took care of their babies. Many of those babies grew up, remembered and kept in contact with her throughout her life.
Her friendships new or old were for a lifetime. Her friends were important to her and she was always concerned for their well-being and health. She considered herself a caretaker for many of her friends that live alone and always kept a watchful eye on them.
She accepted people without fear. For most people striving for acceptance was important to them. Norma never strived for acceptance. She was her own person and was accepted and loved by many for exactly what and who she was.
Norma believed in God, but never felt one needed a building to worship and love him. She felt that her relationship with God was very personal and private. She accepted all in any religion and never put down those that did not believe as she did.
She worked hard, and played hard enjoying life fully till the end.

Charles Perdew Rites Dec. 4
Funeral services for Charles Edgar Perdew, 72, of Bedford were held December 4 at the State Street Shum-Novinger Funeral Home with Mr. Carl Cummings officiating. Mr. Perdew died at his home in Bedford December 1, 1966. Interment was at Washington Cemetery, Gravity.
Charles Edgar Perdew, son of Emmanuel W. [ilkinson] and Inez Carpenter Perdew, was born Dec. 13, 1893 near Gravity in Taylor County, Iowa.
He attended the public schools of Taylor County and grew to adulthood in the Gravity community.
On January 27, 1915 he was united in marriage to Nettie Brown at the Christian Church parsonage in Gravity with Rev. Wade officiating.
To bless this home were born Howard, Leonard and Robert and a son died in infancy.
Mr. Perdew lived and operated the same farm north of Gravity where they moved when married until ill health caused him to retire in 1959 when they moved to Bedford and where they have since continued to reside.
A short time following their marriage both Mr. and Mrs. Perdew united with the Christian Church in Gravity during the ministry of Rev. Wade.
On Jan. 27, 1965 they were privileged to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary but because of ill health it was a quiet occasion—but the joy of their many happy years together remains a precious memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wilbur Perdew; and a grandson, Monte Perdew.
Left to cherish memories are his wife and companion of many years; sons, Howard, and his wife, Lola, Leonard and his wife, Dorothy Joanne; two sisters, Neva Lawrence of Harlan, Ia., and Vera Brown of Gravity; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Perdew was a kind and loving husband and father, friend and neighbor and he will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends.Family Members
